Just wondering if any smokers here have tried the patch, and what your experience was. I promised my hubby that I would quit after our wedding (last November). Then it was just excuse after excuse...I'm too stressed, I don't want to gain weight, etc. I bought the patch a few weeks ago, and I FINALLY put it on yesterday. I warned my hubby that it will be a difficult week for both of us, so just bear with it. Tossed and turned all last night, was restless and ITCHY, got up at 5am to throw up...ughhhhh...it really is detoxing! Apparently kept hubby up all night, had a stupid fight at 6:30 am (from lack of sleep), and I starting BAWLING. He came in and apologized, and I again told him that this will be a hard week, but it will get better. Has anyone else dealt with this??

Quitting Smoking...
I have been on and off for years. Something will always trigger me to go back to smoking. The planning for the wedding made me go back this last time. I had quit for 2 years before that. Now its the layoff that keeps me smoking (I know excuses, excuses)!! I know I eventually will quit when we start planning for kids. Maybe that could be the thing to make you really want to quit. Start smoking less each day. Gradually you will smoke less and less, but don`t let stress overcome you or you won`t quit. Some times when I get a cold I won`t smoke. This will start me off for 4 days of not smoking and I will just conitinue from there. Unless you are one of those smokers that if you got your arm cut off you would still find a way to light the cigarette...(in other words a die hard, chain smoker)....:)? But I never went for the patch...sorry. My husband looked into Nicorette and that was expensive. If the patch made you sick...it could be too strong for you, I think thats what happened to my friend.

Quitting Smoking...
I quit cold turkey about four years ago. I smoked 1 1/2 packs of Marlboro reds, so I''m talking heavy duty.
I think your symptoms may be from the patch, not from not smoking. Check the warning on the patch to make sure.
My advice on quitting is this: you will only quit when you are ready to quit. If you commit to it, you''ll do it without the patch or any medication. I quit at the same that I went on the pill so double whammy on me. The weight I gained was from the pill (I lost it when I changed pills), so you won’t necessarily gain weight from quitting smoking. The worst 'side effect' was constipation. Which is not fun. Quitting is not pretty or fun, but once you get over the three month hump, it gets much easier cause all that gunk is out of your system.
