DH and I just purchased a PS3 about 2 wks ago. We got the new 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle that comes with the console, controller, and the game I just mentioned...it costs $499.99. We jumped at the chance to buy it cause they had discontinued 80GB models for a little while and then just re-released them in this bundle like a month and half ago.
Well guessssss what? Just found out today that the 80GB PS3 was JUST REDUCED down to $399.99! . That is the price for the system and controller--no game for the bundle.
Aaaaaaand in November they are coming out with a 160GB special PS3 with the console, a game called Drake's Fortune, the controller, and a voucher for a free game online.....for $499.99. The price i JUST EEFFING PAID for the 80GB bundle.
I could have saved $100 if I had waited and gotten the 80GB stand alone system, with no game. The Metal Gear Solid game retails for $60. So I essentially paid $100 for a $60 game.
I want to BREAK SOMETHING RIGHT NOW!!!!
But for anyone considering the PS3 for their DHs -- its down $100 for you guys. grrrrrr

Where did you buy it? If I remember correctly if an item you buy at full price is reduced within 30 days of purchase they have to give you the sale price.
I dont know if this is store specific but I know there are places that do it. Call where you bought it and ask, but dont mention you bought something, just ask if theyhave that policy

We bought it at best buy--and they do have the 30 day best price guarantee--even their own prices. pete just got a price match on an ipod FM transmittor like 2 days ago that he bought me the day he bought the ps3---a difference of $15.
BUT -- the problem is that the ps3 we bought is a BUNDLE with a game---the one that is reduced is a stand alone system by itself. its only a price match if they are the SAME exact product. i used to work for best buy--so i know they won't care to price match it.
i'm just mad that they probably knew a new bundle was coming out in 2 wks and didn't say anything. grrrrrr

i was considering that--but the ps3 isn't defective at all--i'd just be returning it but i opened it already.
open items are subject to a 15% re-stocking fee. which means I'd loseapproximately $75 -- so i'd wind up only saving $25 if i returned it and bought the other one.
i'm just screwed on this one ladies. my brother bought a ps3 the same day that we did--i'm hoping he can go to best buy and raise serious hell and they give us SOMETHING

I hate to admit it but i worked at Best Buy for the past 4 years and there is no 15% restocking fee on PS3's. You can rightfully return the product up to 30 days later for a full refund with no restocking fee. If you paid in cash you will get a mailcheck...unless you buy the cheaper one on the same receipt...but you DO NOT have to pay a 15% restocking fee!!!!!!
