I got invited by one of my friends, Im not so close to her, but I go to school with her, she is throwing her fiance a surprise 25th bday party at Rasputin in Brooklyn, I've never been to that restaraunt, and she said it'd be very 'russian' ... not sure what that means, but what can I expect ? and anyone whose been to that restaraunt, what is the dress code....I'm not even sure how much $ I should give either.... speaking her once like a year ago, she stated that usually it was customary to cover your plate and give a little more, since russian restaraunts tend to be very expensive and everybody drinks...
EDIT : um so now my husband is invited! and were both going...how much should i give ?!

I've never been to that particular place, but am Russian the customary gift is $100 pp (doesnt matter how much u see of the person) up to $125. honestly I would give a $100 which usually covers the plate
very Russian = Russian music, LOTS of drinking and LOTS of food. I mean non stop food, about 5-7 courses of food which usually is put for the table in big platters and u just put in ur own plate how much u want. and non stop drinking of cognac and vodka and wine - whatever makes u happier u dont have to mix LOL
dress code - as with any Russian place its dressy. think day wedding: cute cocktail dress and dress pants, dress shoes and button down shirt for ur DH
I totally recommend going. Rasputin is from what I hear is uber fun and usually has the best dancing

if so I found this. . holy smokes - their banquet price is 100-165 special events and I don't think that includes drinks.
I'm Russian as well and Rasputin is one of my absolutely favorites out of all the Russian Restaurants. The food is AMAZING and the music and the show are pretty good as well. It is non stop, DEfinitely wear like a cocktail dress. You'll love it, Russian restaurants are soo fun!

ive actually been there a few years ago. i went with a bunch of people in my fam. we had fun. a black dress would definitely be fine. and i would go with regy on how much to bring... sounds about right. u'll have a great time.
