I was able to do all the layering I'd hoped for, including using several images as the backgrounds on the pages and creating that scrapbook / magazine feel to the album. I made two copies of this first attempt, one for my mom and one for my grandfather. I'm going to make another for FIL and MIL for Christmas because I'm so happy about it! I'm going to splurge on the probook paper for my dad's album when I get around to doing that.
In all, it took me about 3 hours to make, but the final product is fantastic. The women at the store were saying that it's one of the best albums they'd ever seen! I'm so proud!
If anyone else received high res photos from their photographer and wants more info on how to do this sort of thing yourself, let me know and I'd be happy to show you what I'm talking about!
I went with wolf camera / ritz pix because they allowed you to personalize the backgrounds, which really made such a difference. I think my grandfather is going to love it when I see him next week.
