Re: RE: What you do for a living

I am Budget & Business Planning Specialist for consumer printers in the Latin America Market for a well known Japanese company.

I have my usually day to day stuff, and some days I have more work than others. What I do enjoy is that I get to go to Miami 4 times a year and also get the opportunity to travel to places like Mexico, Panama and Chile, when needed.

It was difficult to adjust to their management style, but it has been almost 2 years working here and I think I got it. Well for the most part.

Re: RE: What you do for a living

is it easy? cant answer that. everyday i come to work looking for a challenge, and i usually get it.

not everyone can look at a surgery, let alone assist. to me its not easy or hard. i enjoy what i do and i wouldnt want to be doing anything else.

just 5 min ago i turned to one of the docs and told him that this office feels like home to me.

Re: RE: What you do for a living

Admin Assistant/bookkeeper.

Depends on the work flow. I just recently learned Quickbooks and I dunno why no one ever showed me this before, its incredibly easy.

I also don't mind doing the occasional 1040. I maybe do 30 a year. Payroll, piece of a cake.

My job is very emotionally and mentally challenging. I don't think just anyone could do it....you have to have a backbone and be able to think on your feet to handle the clients that I have. You also have to be able to dissociate yourself, not personalize anything, and be as objective as possible, even when you completely disagree with things.

Before I moved and quit in June/July, I felt the same way about my job. It's funny because we work in two completely different fields...but I think mine had to do a lot with the town my job was in (the town was struggling badly because of the economy...it was named one of Forbes 'quickest dying cities' in the country).

Re: RE: What you do for a living

litigation/bankruptcy attorney.
not easy.
not routine.
but sometimes i hate having to think so much, i get excited for more mundane tasks. i get excited for a lot of things. sleep. being out of the office (in court, at a client, whatever).
right now i'm about to faceplant on my desk though, hence the LIW fuel for my brain!

Re: RE: What you do for a living

my job is definitely not routine. Everyday I could be doing something different. I am usually working on long-term projects and a few short term initiatives simultaneously.

not everything i do is challenging though. i spent my day going from meeting to meeting.

Re: RE: What you do for a living

Pretty challenging. I do a lot of analytical work and there is no standard solution for every client's needs. I have to come up with solutions and workpalns for each client using my accounting and finance knowledge.

On one hand... my job is very routine. On the other - I work with kids -- NOTHING is routine.

Re: RE: What you do for a living

I am a Physician Assistant and I work in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. I make babies
It's fun and challenging, but sometimes routine.

In my office I'm not as hands on as I used to be working in Gyn Oncology and hospital and office OB/GYN. I used to first assist in surgery, consult in the ER, triage pregos in L&D. Now THAT'S challenging!!!! Sometimes I miss that, but I'm happy where I am now.

Re: RE: What you do for a living

Special Ed. Teacher. I teach high school resource room at a private school.

It's somewhat routine but there's new issues and new things going on every day.

There's a always a challenge somewhere: whether it be kids, lesson planning, educational testing, parents, administration, other teachers, etc. I bring alot home with me.

I love every minute of it!
