I'm not married yet, but I will be on 7-7-02. I'm not from LI, but we considering buying a house in nassau cty. Our price range is no more than $350,000 and no more that 5k in taxes. We're looking for a good area with good schools. Any suggestions? Which places should I avoid? I have no clue I'm from Westchester and we can't afford anything here because of the taxes they're about 12k a year.
Thanks for your help

I live in Yorktown Hgts because we could not find a resonable house in LI . The Taxes in a good school district are a min 0f 8k .and thats is Suffolk. My parents live in merrick and their taxes are close to 11k and my inlaws live in Plainview and their taxes are the same...
Hope this helps

I think you'll have a hard time finding what you've described. We were trying to keep under $300,000 and under 6K in taxes and ended up a bit higher than that - and we're in Western Suffolk.
If you go to Realtor.com you can search in your price range and most of the houses have the approx. taxes listed in the details section.
Be aware that anything that sounds really low will probably not stay there. It may reflect the STAR rebates and they may have senior citizen and/or vetran's rates that you may not qualify for.
