Recession Shortages?

Has anyone noticed stores having less stock since the recession?

I was trying to get a pair of shoes for a funeral last week that was not garishly colored and short...looking for basic dark flats, essentially.

I could not find a single pair in my size in the mall that I liked! I do have large feet (10) but it's ridiculous that I asked for over a dozen shoes and couldn't find a single pair in my size. Guess it's Zappos for now.

Definitely!!!!! Wal-Mart did not have near the stock at Christmas, that they normally have had. Strangely, they had an overabundance of Christmas Ball ornaments, which I'm wondering if they lost $ on? Mary MOB

I noticed this at the bloomingdales in walt whitman mall, they had NO shoes, every pair they had on display was the 'last pair' and it had a sticker that said it.
It was the most frustrating experience, i even went back 3 weeks later and they still did not have any shoes restocked

Yes!!! I did some grocery and household shopping on sunday. I noticed that a few products that I could not get 2 weekends ago, STILL were out of stock this weekend.

It seems like this is a new reality at least for the time being.
