Registry Question

Registry Question

My wedding is in July and I think my sisters are planning my shower so I really need to get this done.

I have had my eye on some casual china that I used to see in Macys and at BBB. Now I can't find it in any of these stores, but it is still on their internet site. I have also noticed that in the Macys near me (where I registered) my china pattern (silver palace by Noritake) has just a salad plate on display with the price info. Did people order the things you had registered for if the store did not have them in stock?

I have always been a last minute shopper so I have never ordered anything as a wedding gift. Do people really do this or should I register for items that are more readily available?

Re: Registry Question

People register on-line or in the stores.

Re: Registry Question

When I ordered my SIL's china last year from Macy's. I paid for it, and it was shipped to her address. They give me card indicating the number of pieces ordered, and stating that it was shipped. I was I told that I could place this card in my shower card to her. Everything else was in stock.

Re: Registry Question

Hi Sue! I know that I can register online. I am wondering if people will buy the things that I register for if they are not available in the stores. I am worried that if I register for things that are not readily available in the stores, that I will not get anything that I register for. Instead I will have ten coffee pots and six toaster ovens.

I think it depends on the person. Some people like to 'see' what they're buying. Others will just buy it becuase they know its what you want. I think with all the online shopping that happens now, you should have no problem.

I registered for both my china and everyday dishes (as well as a lot of other stuff) from Crate & Barell. Seeing as how there aren't many C&Bs on LI, people couldn't just go to the store and pick stuff up. They still managed to clear off my registry.

Re: Registry Question

I received lots of gifts from out of town relatives & people that couldn't make it to my shower-I was so surprised that all of the gifts were there. My MOH said stuff was coming to her house everyday for weeks before the shower, then she brought it all there for me.
I always walk into a store & buy something off a registry but a lot of my gifts were ordered & shipped. Just make sure what you registering for isn't being discontinued or something like that.
Good Luck!

Re: Registry Question

Most of the gifts I received related to my china was ordered & sent. those guests whose orders were not in yet gave me a note in their card explaining what the gift was & when it was expected to arrive.

No worries, dear. Register for what you need ... but try to include a variety of items at various price ranges. I didn't stress this too much, I just figured that whatever I didn't like or had changed my mind about, I'd return.

Re: Registry Question

Sometimes items are placed on Internet only status when the stock is running low due to the pattern being discontined. Look on the manufacture's site or call them for information on the patterns you like. The China being displayed: they have soooo many patterns that they cannot fit full place settings of every patternn.

You can also try Fortunoff's. They have a huge selection of patterns.

Re: Registry Question

my casual pattern was not available in any stores - except one BBB in Westchester...but both BBB and Fortunoffs had it available online...

Online it said that it would take 6-8 weeks to come in...so I only had one piece bought at my shower...I decided to order the pieces myself (with some gifts I returned) and they came in 2 weeks!!

so if you love them (I did and I couldn't find another pattern I was happy with - this was my 3rd)...I would keep them...If your heart is set on getting a lot at your shower...find another pattern
