So I just got home from a wake. The deceased is a former neighbor and close friend of DH's grandmother (who has since passed as well). He and his wife (who still lives in the adult home they were living in for the past few years) is too weak to attend the wake and will only be at the funeral. They were married for more than 50 years and while I looked at their pictures (I only met them a few times many years ago) I saw just how happy they were together. Their life together was full of love, friends and family.
Never take those in your life for granted. And here's to all the Newlyweds and a wish for wonderful, long marriages.

It was. And because their lives were so full, there were no tears. Everyone was just remembering his life. It was wonderful (outside of the fact that it was a wake).

I went to a wake where my mothers best friend lost her father. And the wife wasn't really that torn up. They had a long , happy, fulfilled life together and that makes me want to smile more than cry for them ya know?
