We invited you to our wedding because we wanted you to share in our day, not because we were fishing for gifts. You had mentioned to us you wanted to be there, and therefore we invited you.
You were kind enough to send your RSVP back in a timely manner, so for that we will not complain.
However, we are miffed that while you had RSVP'd yes, you did not show and have yet to offer an explanation as to why. You have not even called or emailed to congratulate us on our wedding. And yet there we were paying money for an empty seat that could have gone to someone who would actually show up.
It's not even the money issue that bothers us as much as the lack of consideration of giving an explanation. From now on, don't even bother contacting us. You are officially on our sh*t list.
Signed, The newlyweds who are now short some friends

Listen, I am so there with you.
It is not the money that bothers me, because it all evens out. It is the fact that these people (my secretary being one of them) thinks that it is nothing - and NO CARD...not even an acknowledgment... I would have rather invited someone who wanted to be there!

Janna, I feel for you...We had one too & it was DH's 1st cousin!!!! It is hurtful that someone would do something like this but then again, sometimes it does not surprise me!!!! It is no way about the money, it is definately about someone being inconsiderate & rude!!

Sooooo true!!
I had at least 10 people who were no shows. These people replied 'YES' and never showed up, no phone call no explanation, NOTHING. Money is not the issue here, it's called 'consideration'. These people aren't even considerate enough to pick up the phone and explain WHY they didn't show up NOT even an apology after we paid for their empty seat along with their guest.
I'm sorry that is just plain old RUDE!! Like you said, they are on the PERMANENT sh** list!!!!!

I think everyone has a couple of no shows the day of their wedding. I just can't imagine how people could be so rude and inconsiderate of others. I would never do that to someone. Don't get me wrong, god for bid there was some type of emergency then I would completely understand.

I am so there with you And the funny thing is I just realized it when doing the thank you cards. DH knew they were not there (his family) but until I sat down to write out the thank you cards I did not realize one couple WHO ASKED US TO BE INVITED did not show or call in 2.5 months. And get this, DH said they sent word that their CAT had to have surgery

You know what I found Janna?
I had a guest that was a no show and I work with her, so it's not like I don't see her often! I see her more than DH....she gave me an explanation as to why she couldn't be there, and it honestly did not make a difference....we had an amazing wedding, it's fully paid off, and we have no regrets.
Your wedding was amazing, beautiful, and special to you and your DH - screw the unkind guests and don't let them generate 'bad' memories.
