I'm meeting my friend for dinner after work tonight, and we're trying to think of someplace to go. We're both a little out of the loop now since she lives in Brooklyn now, and I moved by DH, so now we're unfamiliar with our old stomping grounds
She's coming from Stony Brook, and I'm coming from Nesconset, so does anyone have any recommendations for anything new or different in the Stony Brook/Smithaven Mall vicinity/St. James/Smithtown?

ETA: doesn't have to be anything fancy, and we're pretty much open to all genres.
Hmmm..Isn't the Cheesecake Factory in the Smithhaven Mall? DH and I have been to Sonoma Grill and Saviano's a few times...I think they are both in Bohemia..not sure though. The food is good..but I'm not sure how different they are.

The name of the place is escaping me but its in the shopping center with the movie theater & waldbums, across from the mall. Anyway, its an italian place, pizza in the front, restaurant in the back, its really good!

omg. if you remember the name, can you please let me know! i went here once for business and it was delish. and i would have never guessed there was a restaurant in the back!
but i dont know the area at all!! so i never seemed to be able to find it again.
it was sooo yummm

Ali - I realize that you went out last night, but I thought I'd share this in any case for the future! There is an awesome little Mediterranean restaurant in St. James on Lake Ave called ZAR that I love! My mom and I meet there since it's sorta halfway between Port Jeff where she is and Northport where I live.
Thanks everyone...we ended up going to Buona Sera in Smithtown, so nothing new, but still good...funnily enough, same owners and menu as O Sole Mio in Stony Brook, so I guess we were on the same wavelength lol.
And Zar....we've been there a few times, and it's good! A little pricey for what it is though, me and my friend went there once together and decided we'd only go back if someone else was footing the bill
