Results

Ok, since I still didn't get a call today from fertility center about our test results from last week, I called them. I said I wanted to get results from our bloodwork and DH's semen analysis. They said if you haven't heard anything, that means everything is good. They said I could email the doctor if I wanted to make sure. By this point, I'm like ok, wouldn't they want to talk to us whether results were good or bad so we could discuss our options. Anyway, I emailed doctor and he responded that blood work came back normal as did semen analysis. He asked if I scheduled xray yet. Said if that comes back normal we can try IUI.

So I emailed him back to get just a tad more detail because hello, you're the ones who had us take these tests. Also, asked him if xray does come back normal (meaning no blockages on my part) what are our chances of conceiving naturally compared with IUI? Waiting for response. Can tell you this much, ladies, if we do decide on the IUI route, we will not be using this facility.

Thanks for listening & maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but it's pretty important to us and I guess I just expected more from them.

I agree with you. This is a very sensitive subject because they KNOW if people are seeking out fertility treatments, they really want kids. They should have handled this ina more compassionate matter. I mean it IS a holiday BUT they should have been a little more kind.

But no news usually IS good news!

Helen, i would def try someone else... they are not giving you straight answers!! you dont want to deal with that.. its very important!

believe me, i used to work for a doctor... he made sure he called EVERYONE right after any test results!

As Deanna stated I would try another doctor. They don't sound at all compassionate. i know they are really busy but they can set time aside to call my doctors always did.

I can understand your frustration because you want answers so bad and you want it explained due to your situation. Here are some and I hope everything turns out great for you and DH.

So on the positive side, they didn't find anything abnormal in the tests they just did. So that's one roadblock out of the way, which is awesome That being said, I agree with you and everyone else that this is an extremely personal and important area and you want someone who really understands and appreciates that and is willing to take the time to listen to all of your questions and concerns, no matter how big or small they are. Maybe you can try posting on the TTC or Infertility board on LIF to get some suggestions of other practices to use that might be better. In the meantime, remember that stress decreases chances of conceiving naturally, so get all those numbers and statistics out of your head, split a bottle of wine and rock on with your bad selves

How frustrating, i would look into another doctor, you want someone who is going to be compassionate even slightly and they just dont seem to be at all.
As the PP said, your test results are good!

Well, got a response to my last email from the doctor. He said the semen analysis came back normal except for the shape & appearance of the sperm which may affect getting pregnant. I had asked him our chances between conceiving naturally with the low egg count if everything else was ok. He said 3% monthly chance naturally, 7% chance with IUI and 12% chance with IUI plus medication. He said I could call the office to get all our results. So I did and hopefully tomorrow AM they'll be faxing everything over. Because I definitely want a second opinion being that the numbers are so low and I don't feel comfortable with this practice right now.
DH & I just discussed this and depending on the second opinion, we think we're just going to take our chances naturally. I'll still go for the xray because I've read that sometimes having the dye shot through your tubes clears any minor obstruction that may be hindering conception.
We just feel that if the numbers are that low with help, we're better off just trying on our own, instead of putting ourselves through procedures and being let down.

ITA w/ you..they should have a sit down and talk about your options regardless of results. you want to feel theyre giving you the time you deserve to talk over your options and figure out where to go from here. GL!

I'm sorry that you had to deal with that...but happy that you received the results from the test...I would try to look for another doctor..if its possible...

ita. no news is good news - but STILL. a little more compasion then swinging emails back & forth would be nice!! keep us updated - but i'm glad the results are alright so far!
