Resume and Maiden Name?

Soooo I've gotten in trouble at work once AGAIN for doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm so sick of it, that I just would feel better if I started applying elsewhere. But here's my dilemma... my IDs and my resume are now under my married name but under my maiden name at my old jobs. How do I let them know this? Should I also list my maiden name on my resume? Will they contact my older jobs or what? Obviously, I have no idea what the hiring process entails and I'm just worried.

Re: Resume and Maiden Name?

OH MY GOD I had the same thought process just randomly...about applying under married name but references knowing you as your maiden name....

I think that you should put your married name, put 'references available upon request' and when you get asked for references then tell the interviewer 'oh btw i worked here before I was married and they know me as soandso'

Re: Resume and Maiden Name?

Use your married name on resumes. On applications, put your married name and there's a section for your maiden name.

If an employer doesn't use applications, just tell them in the interview what name your employee file will be under at the other jobs.

For the most part, references aren't checked until after an interview is held AND the person is being strongly considered.

That's what I *thought* but I wasn't sure.

Thanks ladies! I didn't even think of there being a spot to put in your Maiden name on applications. Thanks again!

Re: Resume and Maiden Name?

Use your married name because this is the name they will use to hire you under. (W2 forms etc etc)
When they ask for references then you should say its under ur Maiden name.

Re: Resume and Maiden Name?

I have DH's name socially, but kept my maiden name professionally (was told it would be a hassle to get my degrees and Bar admissions changed) so I left my resume with my maiden name, even though Drivers license and SS card say DHs name
