Returned Check...

I got a notice today from the bank stating that one of the checks we deposited bounced because the person CLOSED their bank account!!!

Are you kidding me?!?!

I had a bounced check and by the time I realized the guest called me to apologized and told me he was sending a certified check...his identity was stolen and he was charged $10K at Home Depot...so you never know - maybe the guest took the wrong checkbook?

We had the same thing happen. My friend had forgotten to throw out her old checkbook and in her rush, accidentally wrote us a check from her closed account. She wouldn't stop apologizing for about 2 months. She felt so bad that she wrote a check to cover our costs for trying to cash a bounced check and then some.

It really might just be an honest mistake. Wait and see!

Wanna hear a funny story?

On the night of our wedding as we were making table rounds-a friend of ours asked us when we were coming back from our HM, we told her the 15th, WELL she said ok because that is when I am dating the check. She proceeded to write a check right at the table. She said if you cash it before then it will bounce.

Well we cashed it when we got back from our Hm and it BOUNCED!!!!

Needless to say she was embarassed and gave us cash to cover the bounced check.

At least you hadsomeone apologize for bouncing a check on you. As embarrassing as it is, we had someone bounce a check on us but they didn't mention a thing. We were kinda embarrassed for that person and didn't mention anything either.

Unfortunately, every person I know gets at least one bad check for their wedding. We had two, and both paid us cash with an extra for fees. Unfortunately, we had about 5 present-less people. Oh well!

just remember that it could be a mistake. my parents gave a check at a wedding in march and a couple months later (i think may), they swtiched around accounts and closed that one. i guess they forgot about that check, or figured the bride and groom would have deposited it by now but they didnt. the bride had her aunt mention it to my mom, and my mom got them a new check.
