My DH and I are going to go to Block Island for a weekend for a little romantic getaway and I have never been there. Can anyone suggest hotels, restaurants, places to go? THANKS!!!!

Re: Romantic getaway in Block Island
I'm not a Newlywed or anything, but I've been to Block Island and LOVE it! The Weather Bureau Inn is nice. I can't think of restaurants off the top of my head but the few I ate in (on their Main St.) were very good. I've heard the B&B's are really cozt and nice too. Beware of the ferry tough, I got SO sea-sick going over
But once I got there and saw how pretty it was I was ALL better!

We stayed at the Rose Farm Inn....loved it... they had breakfast in the morning and tea in the afternoon. We rented bicycles and biked all over the island, we found secluded beaches. I don't remember restaurants, but you will have a great time.

I love BI! We stayed at The Blue Dory ( part of Victorian by the Sea), in the Waverly Cottage. It was great, a bedroom, nice bathroom and living/kitchenette area. We loved sitting on the front porch to have morning coffee. I'd love to go back, the ferry can be rough though! Have fun!

We stayed at Champlains Resort, very nice room, everthing located on their grounds. Pool, a movie theater, game room, bike rental, a restaurant, kyacking. We also rented motorized scooters and explored the Island. Definitely go to the Mohegan Bluffs. The view is breathtaking. All the restaurants we ate at were fantastic. Its a great little getaway, enjoy!!

Is the only way to get around on the island by scooter or bike? I only ask because being pregnant (and quite uncoordinated) I'm not sure I can do that...

The only time I was ever there, we sailed there as Hurricane Betty (I think) was about to hit!!!
It was MANY years ago (1994??) and all I remember is Dead Eyed ****'s (LOL! I bought a t-shirt, I guess that's whay I can still remember that!!).

I think scooters/bikes/walking are basically the way to travel there. We did so much bike riding, and it is definitely a workout, the bluffs are gorgeous!

Re: Romantic getaway in Block Island
I love Block Island (biased though because it's where DH proposed!!!!
). We stayed at the National Hotel and it was nice. You can use a car, but it was a good amount of walking. I would definitely recommend it! Welcome New Vendors
