RP: any suggestions on where I can take DH for his birthday for the weekend?
was thinking just a weekend, either upstate or out east. We've never done the LI wineries or really gone upstate.
need ideas, places to stay, restaurants, etc. please!
alternatively i can take him to dinner at a steakhouse in the city, but i've done that every year and i'm running out of steakhouses.
probably mid to late August.
Thanks!!!

i love that idea and i've been wanting to go there for years but is it doable in just a weekend? we're both somewhat out of time after the HM.
thanks!

DH and I took off Friday from work to travel up there and we returned on Sunday night. We had an amazing time!

Lake George! We went last summer with another couple and we just booked another weekend in August! So much fun... only thing is a lot of the hotels require minimum stays during the summer months.

Atlantic City? And stay at the borgata? Go to the steakhouse for dinner and the club or a bar for drinks,...do a little gambling...take a walk on the boardwalk. That sounds like fun

it's funny you mention the steakhouses and running out of them. I feel the same exact way. Every year that's what he wants to do for his b-day and by now we've been to every steakhouse in the city, they need to open some more or he's going to have to get a new favorite food.

seriously, we do it because i'm not a big steak eater (at all) and he loves it so I just eat seafood and try to find the nicest steak place. A new one opened on Park Avenue South - Prime or Prime House or something - that my co-workers recommended. Otherwise I'm out of ideas for steakhouses!

What about a B&B out east? There's this KILLER restaurant in Wading River that we always go to too when we go out there called Michael Anthony's. I have NEVER had a bad meal there! ITs awesome!!! You're a good wife planning all this for your hub

Silvana, would DH's birthday be a good time to have dinner at my castle??
<---- DH took me for my birthday last August, it was AMAAAAZING, we spent the weekend too, check out the POOL, omg. I have pics of the grounds in some of my albums.. It was a little but 90 days before the wedding our thought was, what's ANOTHER $800??? in for a penny, in for a pound!!!
Even if you went for dinner it would be memorable, and you will get there in about 20 minutes from the Triboro Bridge toll plaza!!!

trust me the thought has occured to me! i am dying to check that place out. it's really that close?? that's awesome. I can imagine it must be pricey but i really want to do something a little different for him this year... our first 'married' birthday. i'm a cheesehead, i know.
