salem in october

salem in october

so I am thinking about booking a three day weekend at a B&B in Salem for our anniversary (the weekend of 10/9-10/12. I dont even know where to start.

Does anyone have any good information on Salem, MA or B&Bs in the area? Would that be a fun vacation? I figured it would be cool since it is right around Halloween and we could go into Boston aswell?

DH and I have always wanted to go there in October since it's close to Halloween too. If we went, we would probably stay in boston and drive up to Salem for the day. I've been to Salem when I was younger and I dont remember if there was all that much to do. I would think Boston has more to do. BUT, since its around Halloween, they may have a lot of special events going on you can look into. Maybe try to contact the chamber of commerce there

DH went with a bunch of friends before he knew me and loved it. There are tons of haunted houses and Fall/Halloween activities that go on during that time. I know there's a hotel there that's really haunted. I would be scared out of my mind to stay there!

I LOVE Salem. There is a website called Haunted Happenings. They have listings of all of the tours, balls and everything like that. There isn't ALOT to do and stuff is repetetive somewhat but it is fun.

We stayed at a cheapy hotel outside of Salem across from the mall. I do not remember what it was called but it had a Denny's.

We ate at Victoria's Station twice while we were there. Excellent food and my sisters LOVED their specialty drink....I think it was called the Wharf Rat.

Ye Olde Pepper Company has excellent candy. It is really tiny when you go in but the candy is wonderful.

Nathaniel Hawthorne's house was fun. There is a tight staircase at one point, if you're claustrophobic I don't suggest trying it, I had a panic attack.
