Does anyone know of any places in NYC that has Mexican food and salsa dancing after? I really want to do this with DH for my birthday.
Any suggestions

Re: Salsa Dancing in NYC
I went with my husband and some friends to this place called Gonzalez y Gonzalez(G & G- Downtown on broadway) and it had just what your asking for. It had a live band that played salsa then the DJ played marengue(spelled wrong-sorry). I loved it !!!! We ate afterwards. The atmosphere was awesome and the food was great to. It had a range of ages there. You really should check it.

SOBs downtown (Varrick St.) has an awesome dancing scene and fantastic food, but, if memory serves, the food is Brazillian. Check it out at: www.sobs.com

Thanks girls .
ETA: Are the above places for those who dance salsa or for people just having fun? My husband will be too intimidated if everyone there knows what they are doing!
There isn't a place called El Caliente is there? Or a place that does salsa lessons and then you dance after dinner?

My DH and I take Salsa lessons in West Babylon. I was really interested in your post. As we get better, we would love to find a place where we can go practice what we have learned!

I have to second Gonzalez y Gonzalez - I went there awhile back & had a great time. I thought it was a good mix of people who know what they're doing and people just having fun.

Well there is always the Copa Cabana in NYC. It is real close to the Javits Center...I don't know the exact address as my DH always drives! You can go to thier website and check it out. I know you mentioned that you don't want to feel intimated by those that know what they are doing...well this is the place belive it or not!
On Tuesdays and I think Thursdays they have a free buffet and Salsa Lessons for like $8 or 10 for the whole thing! My hubby is a great Salsa dancer but lacks confidance and I am not at all a salsa dancer. We have been saying we were going to go to one of these lessons but somthing always comes up. If you do check it out, let me know how it was! Have Fun Pam
