Someone just brought this up to me in an email (gee wonder who?)
Anyway, do you guys remember what you scored on your SATs?? This person disclosed they scored a 700 just on the verbal part. That's close to what I scored on the entire test combined.

Ok, now I have to elaborate.

A student sent me this email, and I thought it was so funny b/c he was using all of these big words:

Hi professor Wickers,

I was just inquiring about obtaining an extension on the Hamlet essay even though you had insisted for us not to in light of of the Frankenstein Essay. But since I have finished the story of Frankenstein already I am able to get a head start on the essay giving me ample time with the extension.

So I responded with this, to be an a$$shole:

Since you asked so eloquently, I'll gladly grant you the extension that you seek to obtain. In all of my infinite wisdom I had initially suggested that it might behoove you to pen the piece on the Bard's grandiose play prior to embarking on Shelley's masterpiece, but as you have been fastidious in completing the novella, then I see no reason, Ozzman, that may not complete your essay at a later date than your fellow compadres.

I scored 1140.

Just because a person did not score high on the SAT does not mean they are not intelligent!

Some people do not do well on Standardized tests.

We have sooo many students at my school who do excellent in all subjects in school but score very low on the SAT and PSAT...and then there are those who do poorly and fail who score in the highest percentile! Go figure!

I think I got a 4 combined

I took the PSAT, not the SAT. I couldn't be bothered w/ that crap in HS. I did graduate college w/ an 3.8 GPA though..am I smart yet?

OMG too much use of passive voice and his tenses are ALL messed up. Ugh, I wish I was an english prof; that's my true calling

I did just under 1100 on SATs; i think 1090. I didn't study or care because I knew I was stuck going to the college I went to. on the GMAT I scored in the 98 percentile verbal and 27th percentile math! still got in though so I didn't care but what a crazy discrepancy

I got a 1060. I heard that they changed it now though. The highest score you can get now is 2400 whereas I think it was 1600 when I was in HS.

Ohhhhh. This makes this commercial I've been seeing for some test prep co. make A LOT more sense. One girl in the commercial - i think it's for C3 communications or something like that - says she got an 1800. And I'm like what??? You can only get a 1600 on the sat's!
