Saturday NWQOTD

John and I went out and cut down our own christmas tree this morning. It was alooot of fun (pictures to come).. but now I have a tree laying in the middle of my living room floor bc it wont fit in our christmas stand!!! and sap EVERYWHERE

Which brings me to my question.

Real or fake christmas tree?

Real all the way. I have never had a fake one. DH had one his whole life but when we moved in together I told him that wasn't an option!

None at all if I had the choice. Bah Humbug!

My family does fake....his family does real, and goes on the yearly tree hunt, which I think is going down tomorrow. I've been told I don't have a choice and it will be real But I don't think we're getting one this year, maybe just a wreath since our apartment is still a disaster area.

my fam always had real..every yr...but in dh and i's apt we have stairs and i didnt want to drag it and have to pick up all the pines..so we got fake

I don't think we are getting one at all this year. We still have so much unpacking to do in the new place and we don't really have the room right now. I typically do real trees but they can be a real hassle so I am toying with the idea of doing a fake one next year. Not sure yet though.

When DH and I first bought our house, it came with lots of little 'presents' that were left by the previous owners! There were actually two fake trees in the basement. We gave one away, but that first year our living room was draped in dropcloths with scaffolding and drywall dust everywhere so we weren't doing much holiday decorating. One day, DH decided to throw up the fake tree with some blue lights he had and stick it on top of a dry wall bucket in the corner. It was sad, but cute. Well last year we used the same tree and I thought it looked good. This year we put it up again and I think it looks terrible! It's so sparse that you can see ALL the ornaments no matter where you are becouse you can look right through to the other side! I declared that we would definitely be getting a real tree next year!

So DH is real all the way. And i used to be the same way.

BUT last year i finally talked him into a fake tree for a few reasons. 1 the real always die within days in our apt for some reason (i speculate its the way our heat comes in), 2 the pine needles all over the place, and 3 which is my BIGGEST PEEVE... the droopy branches when you put a heavy ornament on it. We have A LOT of very expensive ornaments that are also heavy.... so I hate when I find the perfect spot for it and then the branch droops!! gggrrrr!!

so we finally got a fake tree and we love it!! it doesnt die, droop, or make a mess. and as far as the smell goes.... i use a bath and body works candle and burn oil that smells JUST LIKE, if not better than the real thing!!

But I can TOTALLY understand the reason behind wanting a real tree!!

We have an artificial tree...we put it up on thanksgiving and leave it up until just after christmas...we fully enjoy the entire holiday season! We just love it!
