Has anyone done it? Do they have the self serve scanners?
Just wondering if anyone has any info on this or prices for that matter.

Be careful, if they have a watchful eye, they can prevent you from scanning the copyrighted images. That happened to me at CVS. A power hungry 18 year old manager stopped me. If you are inclined to take a chance, which I eventually did at another CVS, I suggest, you bring a bill of sale or a copy of your contract which states the proofs have become your property.

they should have self scanners at you local kinko. maybe if you try target, the employees will be less likely to watch what you are doing if the images are indeed copyrighted. also, you should be ok if you are having them printed instantly where they pop out of the machine for you, but i found it easier/quicker to scan the images at target and then pick them up later rather than instantly. but the images i was scanning weren't copy righted so it didnt matter if the people behind the counter saw what i printed.

Wow. This is serious business, huh? I guess I'll bring my contract if I go since the proofs are technically mine now. I'm nervous about this. Maybe I'll just try to scan them at my parents again. Ahhh, why can't they just give me my negatives, darn it.

the proofs may be yours, but if you don't own the negatives than the proofs ARE copyrighted. you won't go to jail or anything, but like goldi said, someone might tell you to stop scanning. they wont let you buy your negatives?

Yeah, I can but we get them free in 2 years. I really don't want to buy them b/c it's like hundreds of bucks. I think I'll just have to suck it up and spend the time to scan them myself.
I want to do a MyPublisher album for the parents so that's why I want to get this done.

I scanned at Walmart before we got our scanner hooked up at home. I mingled them with shots from our table cameras.

yeah, free is way better than paying for them! but you will def want to use a high quality scanner to make the books yourself. we made our parent albums through mypublisher and they came out very nice!
