Seriously--why do my ILs have to be sooo ghetttoooo?

i can't tell you how much i NEEED some fun ladies. DH's family has been driving me nuts--and tonite yet again--he had to go handle their drama.

Two weeks ago--i had to stop what i was doing (prepping dinner for my bro and a friend) and head over to my IL's house cause my DH's brother got caught shoplifting in a supermarket. (he's only 13). luckily the store didn't press charges. DH was working late that day--so i had to handle it

Last week DH's 'stepmom' (i use the term loosely--she's his dad's GF) skipped town like she's done a million times on her drug binges--when she resurfaced---low and behold SHE got arrested herself...and wanted someone to bail her out.

Now tonite---as i was prepping dinner--DH gets a phone call from his dad---you guessed it--someone else got arrested. this time his 16 year old brother...for criminal trespassing. his brother claims he didn't do anything---but he was caught in some guy's backyard with some friends--they didn't realize someone was actually home and called 911--and in that particular area there have been several breakins and burglaries. (we've caught him with stolen merchandise many times)

i truly love my DH with all my heart--and i don't know how he became the man he is with this horrible family. obviously the kids are following the examples that were set by their dad and mom (DH's dad has 6 kids with crackhead GF)....so its like no matter what we do and try and help these kids--they are like RUNNING towards the wrong side of the tracks. but sometimes i want to rip my HAIR out--cause they only time they call us--is when they need something. to get bailed out--$20 for cigarettes---a ride (god forbid they have valid licenses), etc. i just hate it so much.

sorry this got so long---but i just needed to vent it out--they really frustrate me so much and i hate that they my in-laws.

That stinks!!

Oh Melissa, I am so Sorry you & DH have to go through this.
You both are such Great, Supportive, Caring People.
Your DH is such a Better Person. From what you told me, he is a Great Big Brother & a Wonderful Son!!!!

I have said it many times, that I can choose my friends but I can not Pick my Family.

I Pray that the kids come around, and realize what a Great Big Brother & SIster they have. And want to change.

thanks guys--i need the kind words--really DH needs it even more---poor thing--it really pissses me off how DH's dad is such a fuking hypocrite. he acts all SHOCKED and amazing that his kids are getting worse as they get older.

um--you disgusting human being you ran a chop shop in your garage--you sold drugs out of your home--you've been arrested god knows how many times in front of them---and you can't understand why they are turning into lil thugs???

Isn't it crazy how our hubbies can come from such fuccked up environments and still turn out to be the BEST thing since sliced bread!!

Peter must of been sent from above into his parents lives.
He is Truly a Blessing to have in the Family.
He seems to be the Only Level Headed one.


I Love it how Dad acts all Shocked at how the kids are acting & turning out. Does he want to do anything to help his Boys???
Has he, or does he just call you guys to do the Parenting???

I can relate..somewhat at least...

My inlaws can be major pains (and thats including his relatives)...

negative--she would have been outside the gym breaking into cars. she wouldn't be allowed in the gym--you have to PAY for membership. she pays for nothing--that is what the govt is for.

did i mention that she and DH's dad haven't worked in like---ooooh a decade!

Sorry his family os so ghetto fab. Is it just a bit funny that your DH is a police officer. Maybe they like being arrested so they can spend time with their brother. We may get arrested at this open house party tomorrow.

All joking aside that *****. Next time they call as hard as it is say NO. In the long run you always having to literally bail them out of trouble is not helping them, no lesson was learned if you always save them. (I saw this on Oprah one day.)

All I can say is , so sorry, I know how it can feel to deal with family that isn't really your family and you have to deal with their crackhead A$$!!!!

You and Pete are nice, which is good, cause they're kids. I cut my 37 yr ols, wanna be step-sister, who only calls when she needs something, can't take care of her own kids, drunk azz slut off!

I tried for 2 years, but after that I gave up. I hope you and Pete can get thru to them before it's too late

I can imagine what it's like to constantly have to deal with them and their 'antics'!!!! It's very frustrating and such a pain in the ASSSSSSSSSSS!

At least you and Pete have each other - and it's great to see that a good apple CAN fall from a rotten tree!

ugh sorry you have to deal with all of that - you two are amazing people for not giving up on them!

How's you get such a great DH out of that bunch?? You are truly blessed! Sorry you have to deal with them.... Sometimes it's best to let people fall...and it's when they hit the bottom they realize they need help.

oh yeah---we're letting them fall. we don't bother dealing with his 'stepmom' at all when she gets arrested for things anymore---DH's dad realizes that--but still tries. we refuse to pick her ghetto azz up.

i told DH--his 2 brothers got their 'get out of jail free' cards cashed---they got 1 shot -- and if they get in trouble again--we will NOT be going to pick them up or bail them out. and we told them that---next time--lose our number cause they need to learn whats its like to REALLY be all 'cool & gangsta' and spend a night in jail...maybe it will make a difference that way
