Shamma...

In replying to your question of the day, I thought of another question OF THE DAY, that you can use..
(if you dont mind a question idea ! )

Who's the Spender ? Who's the Saver ?

Basically seeing who has the best/worse shopping habits in the relationship...

BONUS QUESTION FOR KICKS...
Whats the best deal youve ever gotten.. (FUNNY ONE - My brother's MIL has used coupons when the item was on sale, and the coupon was doubled, which made it so that the supermarket had to GIVE HER MONEY back ! so she got paid for taking the item home !! That is the best one i've heard yet !!)

I have to say....Before we got married I used to be the saver, and he used to spend. Ever since we got married, I have been the spender, and he is now the saver. Im always buying stuff for the house, which Jay thinks is a waste of $$$$. But someone has to decorate the house

As far as getting a deal...hmm I have to think about that one.

Re: Shamma...

I am BY FAR the spender, although sometimes he joins me on my sprees. He is the sole saver, as my motto is 'Live rich, die poor' .

Best deal.... hmmmmmmmmm..... I would have to say it was on a winter coat I bought last year. It was $600 dollars, and marked 30% off. I had a $200 mall gift certificate, AND an additional 30% off coupon, so the coat ended up being dirt cheap!

Re: Shamma...

Im the saver, but i did change his saving habits for BY FAR the better since ive met him !
He's an only child, thats another 'justification' for his spending habits, his toys and gadgets that he must have... his FIXES for a new toy ! we have Jeffrey money for ToysRus/BabiesRUS (of course for the baby!) And he's like 'OHHHH THE DAMAGE I CAN DO WITH THAT !!!' OH no you dont pal !

BEST DEAL... Hmmm, im the QUEEN of good deals!
Well, Deal or SCAM, which one ya wanna hear ?

I bought something for $20 total (Four $40 curtains on clearance at $5 each ! MD to $20 and 75% off!)
Well I decided I didnt want them anymore. and returned them and 'couldnt find' the receipt, and got $110 in store credit !! I had gone to a different store location that didnt have them on sale! Not my fault ! WOO HOO natural high.
Dont always have your receipt !
Once you work 'behind the scenes' in retail, you
are disgusted for life at the outrageous markups these places get ! (I worked in a few buying offices)...

Good deal... one of MANY i've gotten, bought my mom a lined dress and jacket, originally like $250, was on clearance at Macys on the 14.99 rack ! plus a 15% coupon !! Happy Mothers day mom !!

Oh, and those HALF PRICE SALES, in retail its called MOCK RETAIL , and thats exactly what it is MOCK, FAKE, NOT REAL, LOL.
They pay $2.50 for an item, put $9.99 on it and you pay $5, they are still doubling their money !
There are machines in the stock rooms that make those special HALF PRICE stickers, all planned out !
So next time you feel GOOD that something was so EXPENSIVE, ( I hate when people associate quality with price big NO NO ) pleaseeeee think again !
Beat them at their game !
Can ya tell I left that industry bitter at my old bosses ??? BUYERS = Middle aged, single or divorced women that are married to their jobs and expect everyone else to be also !

I rambled again...and off on tangents again...cant take me anywhere...GNITE ! ..

Shamma, you crack me up girl! My name is Claudine and I am a Nine West addict, too!

I am the spender and hubby is the saver.

The best deal that we got recently...(please don't think we are horrible people for this!!)
We were shopping in a popular children's store, and were stocking up on formula for our new addition. My hubby had the cart and he was in charge. We get to the register, and the checkout person was blatantly and obviously bored to tears with the job. Soooo, the person (not concentrating very much) quickly scans all of our items and takes our coupons, totals our sale and sends us on our way.

It wasn't until we got all the way home that we realized the person neglected to ring up about $80 in infant formula!! Well, little 'gifts' like that don't happen everyday.

I am the spender, but I go through phases. right now it is jewelry. My past phases include: shoes, clothes, things for the house. In reality, I am always looking at shoes. I absolutely refuse to pay full price for anything - I wait for sales, and I have my coupon. When I enter the store, I head straight to the clearance rack and then the rest of the store. If I am going somewhere, i start shopping in advance, so by the time the event arrives I will have outfit, shoes, accessories at a really good deal.

Re: Shamma...

I haven't had any good deals lately, I don't think I have ever had any good deals. I am an impatient shopper, I can't watch something I want, I am impulsive and I have to get it then and there. When I grow up I am going to be rich

Natasha, I go thru phases too, mine currently is flowers

LADIES PLEASE PLEASE FEEL FREE TO START THE TOPIC OF THE DAY. THIS IS OUR SIDE OF THE BOARD, LET US ALL FEEL FREE TO CONTRIBUTE AND PARTICIPATE. WHOEVER GETS HERE FIRST CAN DO IT. THANKS

Re: Shamma...

I am totally the spender!!!!...
'My Name is Jenn and I am a Shoppaholic....'
I have NO room in my house for all the clothes I have...
I used to work for The Gap and the Limited and in the past 8 years I have not gotten rid of a whole lot...I should just say that my Mom's cleaning girl and her family really dress nice:)
The problem is that I come from a family of spenders..my parents are and so is my sister...
my DH comes from the cheapest family around..NO ONE lives at my Inlwas ..so why must my MIL go food shopping EVERYDAY!!!she looks for sales and uses coupons.. it have taken me years to retrain my husband to think that is free so we should buy it,,,,but we don't have a dog so who cares if the food is free...
what makes it worse is that my husband is a buyer for a supermarket and has been working for the company for 11 years so he knows the cost of everything!!!!

Re: Shamma...

Why did my girlfriend just call and tell me she got 4 shoes (nine west and enzo) for $40.00. I told her she better go back and get me some. She has small feet, so she always get great deals on the clearance rack.

I went to the library today to return some book, and I just got 7 books for 70cents. I already started reading one that was on my must read list --Stolen Lives by Malika Oukfir. This one was also on oprah;s book club.
