shopping...

Re: shopping...

For us it was some ofthe following:

Spices
Flour
Sugar
Basic condiments (ketchup, mustard)
Eggs
Milk
Foil/plastic wrap
butter
bread

Depending on how you cook (fresh vs. frozen/cannd ingredients) you can stock up on frozen/canned stuff.

We buy meat and some fresh veggies within a day or two of using them, often the same day.

Re: shopping...

We did it in a few trips. I couldnt get everything at once, plus I kept forgetting some things.
We needed every single item, so we had to buy alot

ETA: Found this list online. Might help in thinking of items you will need

I agree with going to a wholesale for the first shopping experience. I would write a list and see what stuff you should get from wholesale and then the rest you can get at your local supermarket!

Congrats on the first shopping experience. I dont even remember my first one but I do know it must very exciting.

Re: shopping...

I am trying to visualize my pantry, in addition to what was previously listed :

pasta
jarred sauce (if you don't make your own)
rice
bread crumbs
vinegar
salad dressings
mayo
mustard
canned tuna
mac n' cheese

cereal
juice
cheese
coffee, tea
butter or margarine

I buy bagels and freeze the ones we don't eat right away.

frozen veggies (I like the bagged kind so I can take out what i need then seal the bag up)
meats

got to have a stash of chocolate in the house.

Don't forget basic cleaning supplies :
paper towels
sponges
mop
dish soap
all purpose cleaner
baking soda (great for cleaning the sink & tub, environmentally friendly too)
