Should I attend this????

Have a little bit of dilemma. Should I attend a shower for one of DH's distant cousins??

Long story short,
I was invited along with MIL. MIL is not attending b/c she is VERY VERY recently separated from FIL and doesn't want anyone to know. This particular cousins sisters shower was a few months back and I couldnt make that one either.
They both came to mine and I feel guilty not attending another one but the shower is an hour away and Im not close with this side of his family. We dont see them other than family functions really.

I'll pretty much have noone to sit with if MIL doesnt go and its an hour drive.

Am I horrible if I dont go to another one of their showers even though they came to mine??

I would say just send a nice gift. This sounds bad but if you're not close w/ her at least she won't be too sad that you didn't make it , and she still gets the benefit of a gift to open and she has more time to spend w/ other guests. Maybe just put a good excuse of why you coulnd't be there on the rsvp. ?

I agree. Just send a gift and respond No. It's ok not to go.
