Shower help

Shower help

Okay ladies, here's my problem. I have a friend who is nearly impossible to surprise. She figures out EVERYTHING, from gifts to other people's pregnancies (she actually went so far as to taste a friend's frozen drink at a wedding, after noticing she had been using the bathroom more than usual for the past few weeks! And she was correct in guessing the pregnancy!!) When she got married last year, she told us that we should just tell her when her shower was, because she would just figure it out any way, and then feel bad for spoiling the surprise. That being the case, we bridesmaids (along with her mom) played hardball and lured her to her Saturday early evening shower (we figured the timing would throw her off) by telling her her dad had been badly hurt, and she needed to come quickly. Mean as hell, but it worked, and she was not merely surprised as much as completely shocked beyond belief.

Her baby shower is coming up, and her mom can't think of a way to surprise her. She wants to just tell her, rather than carry on the facade of the surprise. Her friends think there HAS to be a way to get her again. Anna, I'd love to use the trick your sister used, but the party is already booked at a hall. Does anyone have any ideas???

Re: Shower help

We got my cousin to her shower by sending her an invitation to a party for one our cousins kids. All of the female cousins were in on it so a few of us had conversations with her about the 'event' before hand . A few of us were sitting in the lobby of the restaurant with our husbands/sig others chatting when she came in. We sat and talked for a few minutes and then casualy strolled into the room for her surprise. We got her!

Fran,
I was just going to suggest that too That is how my sisters got me at my sweet 16 party. It was a surprise, and they sent an invite to me for my friend

Re: Shower help

That's a great idea, especially if people are there w/their husbands, etc. Or how about going shopping and then going to 'lunch' afterwards? If she's the suspicious type, she might be suspicious of any invitations she gets? She sounds like one of my friends!!! Meanwhile, I'm the easiest person to surprise because I walk around w/my head up my youknowwhat!!! LOL

Re: Shower help

She IS very suspicious, but I've been thinking about having a surprise 30th for Patrick, so I think I'm going to ask her to 'help' me plan it! (Fran, Diane, and Debbie, you girls rock!! Thanks for the idea!) Maybe if she is really involved in planning the menu, decorations, planning the surprise, etc. she won't think it's for her. I figure I'll get her dh and other friends to be in on it, and if her family appears to be completely uninvolved, that might throw her off even more!
What do you think??

PS~ Deb, I'm like you... sooo easy to surprise!

Re: Shower help

Jenn I heard this from one of my FH's cousin's shower that I didn't attend but it sounded like it worked. The surprisee was over her SIL's house visiting for some reason or another and all the family and friends who were attending her surprise shower all showed up there (they all had met at the local HS and followed each other) at the house. She was totally surprised. Not sure if this will help or not.
