Shower Question

If you do not go to someones shower are you suppose to get them a gift?

I have always done this for people and now that my shower has been passed almost a month ago i still have not gotten any gifts from at least 6-7 friends who were not there. I am not a greedy person but I find it rude, I have a lot of inexpensive stuff that a person can buy to show that they are thinking about us One person i went to her shower and engagement dinner and gave really nice gifts at both. One even RSVP yes and never came and has not sent any type of gift.

And i don't think i am getting anything due to a month has passed and nothing further is off my registry.

I just find it rude, but maybe you don't have to bring a gift if you do not go to the shower????

Happen to anyone else?

PS - I had another 7 or 8 people not come to a shower and send a gift.....that is why i am asking...

Re: Shower Question

I don't think you have to send a gift if you don't go to a shower, I would just make it up in the wedding gift. At my own shower I didn't get a gift from a few guests because I knew they were tight on money but they came to the shower because I wanted them there gift or not.

I think it rude to invite people just for gifts.

Wait till people come to your wedding and don't bring a gift or you get some no shows... then the lack of gifts at your shower won't seem that rude....

Re: Shower Question

I am sure that will happen at my wedding. I always feel that the way i treat people is the way i want to be treated. That is why I was a little upset about 1 or 2 of them...not because i want a gift so to speak.

I have always given a gift when i could not go to a persons shower.....nothing over the top but just somethign i think the person would like....i just find it weird that people i did that for do not reciprocate....

I totally agree ... and was actually surprised by one or two people who did not come to my shower (nor did I expect them) & did not send a gift. Again, though, just surprised, not upset or angry.

I also like to say I treat people the way I want to be treated, but also in a way that I feel is the right thing to do (which does not mean someone else does!).

Don't let it bug you since there's really nothing you can do about it.
