silly question...

are we officially Mrs. X when we get the marriage certificate, even though nothing has been changed over (SS, license, etc)? I'm having an identity crisis since nothing has been changed over yet, so i never know what to sign.

Re: silly question...

LOL!!! I know what you mean!! The HM was crazy trying to be all newlyweds but having to sign maiden name if I used my credit card!!

And my name officially changed in my corporate directory but my email is still my maiden name ...

And I only got around to half of everything else.

Re: silly question...

Yes...as soon as you receive your marriage certificate and you marked that you were going to change your name....you are 'officially' Mrs. X. It takes getting used to....I still sometimes start signing my maiden name!

Re: silly question...

You're not really Mrs. X until you sign everything over. If you haven't changed your name with your bank, they're not going to accept a check endorsed by Mrs. X, same with your credit card. You need to change your name with Social security and then at the DMV so you have picture ID. You can probably just call your credit card to have them change your name.

I wasn't even able to open a bank account under my married name because I don't have photo ID with married name yet.

I'm going through MAJOR identity crisis. I'm Married on some things, Maiden on others and hyphenated on others!!! It's so weird!

Re: silly question...

I still have it and I am married over 6 months. I finally just changed my SS card and registration on my car. Now I am officially Mrs. M on everything.

Re: silly question...

I thought you were officially 'Mrs. X' when you were pronounced 'man and wife' .....
On paper, it's whenever you get to changing it.
