and I am stuck in an airport, anyone else want to write about their experience with an airline delay????
Besides this one, I got stuck in France. My plane from Marsaille took off 45 minutes late getting me into Paris 5 minutes after my plane left for NY. I had to spend the night in a hotel. It worked out great, cause I had more fun in Paris that one night than I did the 3 weeks I was in Marsaille.

ugh, me too!!!! and the flight from tucson to ny is LOOOONG. actually, i always take the jet blue red-eye. it's not so bad.
i once was delayed for like 7 hrs in the chicago airport. that definitely was annoying, but i think that was the worst delay i ever had. and i was flying alone that time too. no fun.

For our honeymoon we were delayed both ways - on the way there b/c of a hurricane and no reason on the way back. we missed a day and a half of the resort and we had to stay an extra day in a hotel! I hate Amer. Airlines

Oh boy I can relate to airport delays. I was stuck on a plane for literally talmost 12 hours 2 years ago. It was all because of storms. I was flying from Cali to NY and we had a delay to begin with of about 1 1/2 hours then we get on and it took another 45 mins to get in the air. About 6 1/2 hours to fly because the pilot was zig zagging across the country to avoid everything then we get to NY it took us an hour to get off the plane then another hour to get our luggage. Let just say I didnt get home until about 2AM from being on the plane since 9AM PST. This was on Jet Blue so thank god we had TV's.

Re: Since my mind is still on vacation
too numeous to count.... the WORST delay was returning from new orleans in 2004.... I was at a huge conference where I got that amazingly bad flu that was going around that year. I could barely stand, yet I had to fly home like that. The weather was bad, so my one connecting flight turned quickly into 3..... somehow I ended up in florida I was so delirious, and I was worried that they'd make me stay over becuase islip would close before I came home....
sheer hell.....

Re: Since my mind is still on vacation
About 3 months ago, I was travelling to Atlanta for business. IT was AWFUL. I hate Continental. THey had us on the plane, on the tarmac, ready to take off for 5 hours. THey were serving first class margaritas, and the coach passengers didn't even get water!!!!!!! C'mon....even prisoners get water! Well, after 5 hours they let us off the plane, we were delayed 3 more hours, and then went.
I called and complained so they gave me first class tix for the return trip. On the return trip, they seated me, and then kicked me out of the seat b/c they were overbooked and seated me in the rear seats next to the bathroom. that flight was delayed 2 hours which seemed like NOTHING after the first flight.....YUCK

Re: Since my mind is still on vacation
The flight home from Puerto Rico after our honeymoon was terrible. There was a ton of turbulance, but despite that, we got into JFK 30 minutes early. Well, we ended up being put into a holding pattern for 15 minutes since we were early. Then when we landed, we had to sit on the runway for 30 minutes while we waited for the plane ahead of us to move out of the gate. We arrived at the airport 30 minutes early and got off the plane 15 minutes late What made it so bad is that while we were sitting still, a bunch of people tried to stand up to go to the bathroom & to get things out of the overhead & the stewardesses were freaking out, yelling & threatening people to sit down while we're in motion.... ummm... hello? We're SITTING STILL!
Then of course there was a problem with the belt at baggage claim so it took an additional 30 minutes to get our bags out.

Re: Since my mind is still on vacation
I had a 10:30 flight out of Dublin. I was being driven to the airport by a priest Father George that is a really good family friend. We had to leave at 6am to be at the airport by 8 2 hours early for check in. I was still drunk at 6am since I was out at a leaving party the night before
Father George was chatting away to my aunt and would not leave the house finally at 6:30 we left. He had to stop to get gas. I was sleeping in the passenger seat (aka passed out) when the smell of gas hit me and I boked all over the place then went back to sleep. Father George went and got a bucket to clean up my boke. (I know I am going to hell I should add he is about 70 years old) He thought I was car sick so he pulled ove so I could settle my stomach. I woke up and started yelling get to the airport.
So we arrive at the airport at around 9am and father George parks in a drop off area to run into the airport with me. Boarding on my flight was closed so I had to pay about $200 for a later flight and the next flight is at 3. I check my bags and get my ticket. I figured I would go somewhere with Father George his house is about 15 min from the airport. But he kissed me goodbye and said have a nice flight.
I was stranded in the airport for 6 hours. I kept getting sick and had to lug all my bags into the bathroom with me since I was alone. I feel bad for whoever sat next to me on that flight I smelled like boke and alcohol.
Oh and poor Father George had a boot put on his car tire. He had to pay 50 euro for it to be released.

Re: Since my mind is still on vacation
We lost a day in Hawaii a few years ago. We had a connection in Atlanta and the plane was delayed due to weather conditions. Just about everyone on the plane had a connection, so the flight attendants told the captain and he came on and said that due to the weather conditions all planes are delayed and that he called in to the terminal to let them know he has a plane full of passengers with connections and what connections they had and that they will hold flights. We get to Atlanta and run to get to the gate only to find that they closed the flight and we could not get on. There was about 25 people flipping out. They told us that they would get us on the earliest flight and gave us a little overnight pack (toothbrush and toothpaste and soap) and said there was nothing they could do to compensate.
We were on the phone complaining and they still said they wouldn't compensate. Eventually we got two free tickets to anywhere, which we used to go to Vegas.
