small rant

I had such a great afternoon, and I came back from this scolding of a letter from my complex management. It was addressed to four different duplexes: two which no one lives in, and one who lives alone and is barely home. So really, it was addressed to me but they didn't have the guts to just say that.

This letter basically told me that it is not allowed for dogs to pee on the grass in front of or behind my duplex. Umm, what? They say that he can only go in a 'designated area,' which is half a mile away from my house. I take my dog on several walks during the day, but I'm not going to have him hold his pee in the morning just so that he could go on one specific spot. It's a big, grassy area for crying out loud, and he's not ruining the grass. The letter ends by saying that if this letter does not apply to me (which it obviously is), then they applaud me; but if it does, that I am 'offensive to the community.'

REALLY.

One of the big reasons we chose this complex was because it's SO dog-friendly. I love where I live, so this caught me off guard, and I'm semi-tempted to write back .

wow, that's really obnoxious of them ... it's grass ... grass + pee = greener grass! what the ef!?

actually in most cases grass+pee = brown dead grass... at least with my dog it does...

but i still totally agree with Laura...

yeah, it usually harms grass...but my dog lifts his leg high enough where it doesn't really harm it. and in my back yard, he only goes in one patch which was already dead grass when we moved in.

Just make sure you lift your leg high enough so you don't harm the grass.

So they expect you to stop your dog from peeing when he sees grass and make him walk a half a mile before he goes? If they know how to make a dog not pee when he sees grass give them my number...

We used to live in a Farifield Complex and although they claimed to be 'dog friendly' they ALWAYS would send insane letters like that about pets.

It's annoying. I would write back!
