So aggravated!!!

This is my second year subbing in my local school district and last year i worked about 3 or 4 days every week which was doable. This year has been so slow, especially the past few months with hardly any work at all! I was supposed to work wed, thurs, and fri this week and I just got a notification that the wed and thurs jobs have been cancelled. Im wondering if its been so slow because so many people are subbing since there are no permenant positions in sight! Its just so depressing and Im sorry for complaining

I have no clue how the subbing thing works..but can you try to get subbing positions in other districts at the same time?
There are so many districts in our area.

Or what about a part time job somewhere - just to keep you busy? My friend subs at an elementary school & works at the Gap in Port Jeff when shes not subbing. It seems to be working for her.

Not anymore......the field is over populated and the colleges just keep spitting teachers out!

They are on aesop but I believe you have to get board approved...give a call to central office!

Gail, I feel your pain. Even though I work in a different field, I know what you are going through. When I got laid off, I didn't think things will ever improve. But they did. Things will happen for you! Just hang in there and put yourself out there. Network as much as you can. Good luck!

I know in my school it stinks for subs for two reasons, one -like you said there are more people subbing, and two-the schools are too cheap to hire subs when they are needed!

My two besties are subs and they say the same thing. One of my friends has only been called once this year!!! Its hard right now, I'm sorry you haven't had any jobs lately.
