'So-called friend' Vent
So one of my DH's former co-workers (he still works for NYSP but they have both been in different barracks for several years now & we see them once in a blue moon for a social event)
He hasnt been much of a friend to DH - they only live 1/2 hr away from us but have come to our house 2 times since we bought the house up here in 2004. Yep that's right - 2 times in 6 years.
They never came to our wedding (although they sent a small check - out of guilt Im sure), and the last time they came over to us was for our halloween party in mid october - they have been telling us yeah we need to get together, blah blah blah
& we even said the next time we would come to them (b/c obviously to drive a 1/2 hr to see a 'friend' is truly a HUGE sacrifice
) We still have not gotten together with them & they keep coming up w/ excuses why we cant.
Today DH emails his 'friend' to ask for his camping stuff so we can go camping in a few weeks. He replies back that he doesnt have it & that DH's ex-wife came up one weekend whiel they were still married to come get it
- why she would make a trip up just for that...sounded fishy to me. So DH emails ex-wife to see if she really has the stuf - or at least if she really did drive up there to take the stuff. Ex-wife gets back to us right away & says no she never drove up there & doesnt recall seeing the camping stuff in storage either. She also said why would she make a special trip just for camping stuff (exactly what we thought too). So DH wrote friend back & told him he spoke w/ ex-wife & she said she never drove up there to get the camping stuff. (I think friend didnt know DH still had limited contact w/ex-wife). Well friend writes back we dont have it. I mean - they dont go camping - they dont do ANYTHING - so why be spiteful just b/c we like to do things besides watch the grass grow, & keep DH's stuff that HE paid for?
Then to top it all off friend's wife is also a FB friend & she posts tonight:
'I am happy (and grateful) that I am in a marriage where I don't need to 'scream from the rooftops' or 'declare' my love for my husband to validate that love.. I don't need to convince everyone else when the only person that it matters to is him.'
ugh...jealous jealous jealous.
I took this as a direct personal hit & now I am steaming
about it! I so want to write something like 'well I am glad I am in a marriage where my husband can have friendships with whomever without having to check with me 1st if it's ok!' (she keeps her husband on a VERY tight leash)
Am I wrong for being pi$$ed about that comment?
I dont really think it's SO terrible when people write nice things back & forth to each other on FB who are OBVIOUSLY in love with each other.
Vent over. Thanks for getting this far.
