SO FRUSTRATED... need help

SO FRUSTRATED... need help

I need honest opinions...

remember this painting ...

I never finished it for Christmas... the majority was done, but I never did the background... I finally decided on using a complimentary color to the opposite wall... (orange). which would make it blue-green.

The paint I mixed came out to powdery blue... Personally I liked it, but it really didn't go with the rest of the rooms and DH wasn't too fond of it. So I remixed the paint and redid the backgrounds...

This time it came out too green and while I *thought* it looked alright, when I saw it in natural sunlight... it bugged me. AND I THOUGHT ABOUT IT ALL DAY... I'm so bummed b/c I worked so hard on the painting itself I would HATE to ruin it b/c I messed up the background color...

Thing is with acrylics, if I attempt to cover the background, brush strokes show... and it creates a clumping.

my question is... SHOULD I redo the background to make it more of a BLUE green (emphasis on the blue side?) I fear I'll really mess it up if I try and maybe I'm just being too much of an artist and over critiquing.

with flash:

see the brushstrokes?

BTW-- I am going to outline the breakdancers in white... you can't really see them clearly if I don't...

I remmeber these..I thought you were going to do them a sort of gray with a green tint to go with the room. The color is DEFINETLY bright.... I dont know..I really like thepaintings themselves-just not crazy about the colors. But is it worth possibly ruining it/ I have worked with acrylics before-painting is SO not my thing... Dont you hate it when you can't use the Delete button?!

I think the painting is awesome...the background color seems very bright for what you want it for. I dont know, I think seeing the brush strokes almost gives it character but if you might ruin it I would just leave it the way that it is.

I dont know, Im no help

I think it's GORGEOUS!!! BUt, that being said I can understand that it may not be the color you envisioned it to be! I paint in oil and I understand you frustration.

I personally wouldn't paint this one again, I wouldn't risk messing it up completely.

Would you consider trying to paint another one?

either way I LOVE IT

you don't understand how badly i want to CONTROL Z....

i have been SICK over this all day.... the color DOES look nice against the wall with the rest of the colors in our living room... but it just doesn't do the paintings justice IMO...

the naked eye can't really pick up the brush strokes... you see them with the flash b/c the flash is bright and reflects on everything...

my grandfather (who was an artist) always says... the imperfections show you it is handmade... errrrrrrrrrrrrrr something like that...

=)))

everything but the background is oils....

I cannot for the life of me paint in acrylics.... I need to work and REWORK a color....

OILS ARE MY LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE

Would you consider trying to paint another one?

i WOULD and knowing myself I probably WILL.... but I would be angry at myself if I did... I'm OCD like that where I will spend SO MUCH more time over something silly like a background.

I am just so proud of how the image came out and the record part was SO TEDIOUS.... UGH..

plus, its a gallery style canvas... those ARE NOT cheap.

grrrr i hate myself

sounds like it might be easier to change the paint on your wall...

i think it looks great, and that you may be over analyzing it. it's beautiful the way it is, and i'd be so afraid of messing another element up that i wouldn't want to touch it.

I think it looks fine-Maybe you can create other paintings or find some sort of decor elements that will tie in the color of the canvas to the rest of the room?

if its just the brush strokes that are making you nuts, I wouldnt worry about that. They won't look bad. How many canvases hanging in the MET dont have visible strokes?! if anyone has the gall to ask, tell them its stylized and leave it at that.

it's not the brushstrokes really... you can't really see them unless you're up close... (Its just i KNOW they're there...)

I just can't help but think how much better it could have been.

the color looks good with the earth tones of the room/... just not the right color for that particular image on the painting.

It's totally me being over analytical... if anything, this is me at war with myself and a deeper rooted issue. haha
