SO FUNNY... not funny... but funny....

Ok so yo know how I posted about what a d!ck DH was when I was sick the other day? I asked my MOH's husband, who I adore, what he thought of the situation. My posts are normal, his answers are in caps
NOTE his answers are TOTALLY SARCASTIC. He is NOT like this, he was just giving a funny perspective that has some truth to it.

WHY is ___such a d!ck? I am ready to STRANGLE him. Honestly, if he has the sniffles, he is in bed for days & calls the world & tells them how sick he is.
MEN ARE DICKS AND ARE ALLOWED TO COMPLAIN AS MUCH AS THEY WANT. WHEN WE ARE SICK, WE EXPECT OUR WOMAN TO TAKE CARE OF US EXACTLY THE WAY OUR MOTHERS DID.

I went to the ER this weekend with a ruptured ovarian cyst & told to rest in bed for 1-3 days with Vicodin. They said I have several more cysts & I need to get to a doctor ASAP & get this treated or more can rupture. They said rest & no lifting. After 1/2 a day, he was telling me to 'get up & go to work'. It’s like he was mad at me that I got sick. I am so upset. He totally minimalized what happened to me. He went so far as to LITERALLY say to me last night 'nothing is wrong with you, get up.' I am so upset over this.
WE VIEW OUR WIVES AS EMPLOYEES. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE SICK AND WE DO NOT HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE COMPLAINING ABOUT BEING SICK. WIVES AND MOMMIES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HEALTH ISSUES AND IN REALITY, ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE SICK AT ALL, AT ANY TIME.

I was chasing the baby around yesterday, did laundry, did grocery shopping. & carried it all in by myself while he sat on the couch in his underwear (as usual). I was told not to lift ANYTHING, not even the baby for a few days. I asked him 3x to get up & help with the groceries. Instead he laid there. I carried it all in & he said “SEE I told you there was nothing wrong with you.” YOU DID WHAT IS EXPECTED AS A WIFE AND MOMMY. MEN RESERVE THE RIGHT TO NOT HELP OUT. MEN WILL DEFINITELY NOT HELP OUT IF THERE SPOUSE IS 'SICK'. IT IS A TEST TO SEE IF THE WIFE/MOMMY CAN HANDLE EVERYTHING WHILE THE WIFE/MOMMY IS 'ALLEGEDLY' SICK.

Then I HEAR him on the phone & he says “yeah, she’s been in bed all day. I’ve been taking care of the baby.” I shouted so whoever could hear me “I AM NOT IN BED,YOU LIAR!” I would have gladly been in bed, but every time I tried to rest, he YELLED at me to get up. I don’t understand what the f*cking problem is? WHY am I not allowed to lay down or rest? I cannot stop crying over this.
AS FAR AS HIM LYING TO HIS FRIENDS, I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT THAT EXCEPT IT IS NOT APPROPRIATE. YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO QUESTION WHY HE IS MAKING YOU LOOK LIKE A LAZY NO GOOD BUM TO HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY. THAT IS NOT FAIR AND SOUNDS LIKE HE IS FISHING FOR SYMPATHY.

He even said at the hospital 'you know. I don't feel well either.' Really d!ckhead? How come I’M THE ONE ON THE GURNEY! He always needs to be the center of attention. It’s really upsetting.
HE IS SCARED. HE DOES NOT WANT YOU TO BE SICK. HE IS A LITTLE IMMATURE. HE NEEDS TO GET HIS ARMS AROUND THE FACT THAT HIS LIFE IS YOU, ELLA AND HIM NOW. NOT JUST HIM. THIS WILL TAKE SOME TIME ..... AFTER 6 YEARS OF BEING A DADDY AND 8 YEARS OF BEING A HUSBAND ...... I THINK I FINALLY GETTING THE CONCEPT.

Whatthefunk? How do I handle this because honestly, divorce is looming. I can’t STAND him. I really can’t.
YOU HAVE TO GRAB HIM AND SPEAK TO HIM. BE HONEST AND ASK HIM TO MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND WHY HE ACTS LIKE THIS. INFORM HIM THAT YOU HAVE COMMITTED THE REST OF YOUR LIFE TO HIM AND YOU UNDERSTAND THAT HIS LIFE HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS. YOU UNDERSTAND THESE CHANGES ARE MORE INTENSE FOR A MAN, THAN A WOMAN. LET HIM KNOW THAT YOU ARE TIRED OF NOT GETTING ALONG AND THE PAST IS THE PAST AND WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO MOVING FORWARD TO MAKE THIS RELATIONSHIP STRONGER AND HAPPIER FOR THE BOTH OF US ...... IF HE DOES NOT RESPOND ...... ASK AGAIN IN A FEW DAYS ...... IF HE DOES NOT RESPOND AGAIN ...... CALL MY WIFE AND ASK HER !!!!!

Funny......he sounds just like one of DH's friends.....A lot of what he says, I think, deep down inside for a lot of men is true!!! They are all little boys who want to be taken care of! Time to kick his a** into adult mode!!! I hope everything goes well for you guys!!! Remember if it doesn't kill us, it will only make us stronger!!!

Yea thats the scary part! At some level, much of what he said is how many men feel. Its a very self centered and unrealistic POV.

That being said though, my husband genuinely does not carry those beliefs and has never acted in a way that made me suspect that he did. He has always been the 'care taking' type. I think thats the main reason for it. He has been a special educator for a long time. He has a son. He is very selfless with his son and I. And Im thankful to have a husband who is very understanding with my health issues, being that I have a chronic illness. He gives me the time to feel how I feel when I need rest. I probably put more pressure on myself to get up and do stuff out of my own guilt. But he takes on a large portion of household stuff as well to help out.

And I think there are plenty of men out there like that...and other men who are better at it at certain times...and some men who grow to become more supportive in that way, and theres nothing wrong with that. There is something wrong, however, with a man having some unrealistic expectation that a woman needs to be all and do all and be perfect for them. Who the heck are they? What are their responsibilities?

Id like to emphasize here that I am not talking about anyone elses husband here, Carolines or otherwise. Just sharing my experience of things.

While I thought it was funny... I think that you really need to be discussing this stuff way more with your DH than with other people and on here... It just seems to me that deep down, the way he's treating you really hurts you.

I hope you find a way to talk to him and work things out...
