Did he use the traditional 'Will You Marry Me?' or did he say something entirely different?
My DH had initially asked me 'Will You Marry Me?' immediately followed by 'Will You Be My Wife?'...OMG it was the most surreal moment in my life.

I think DH said 'will you marry me' but actually its really a bit of a blur for me! lol He started it off by saying a speech to everyone that we were with that day, and hes going on and on about the weather being soo great and what a great weekend he had, and then when it actually came down to the proposing part as soon as i saw the ring i lost it! haha!

I think his exact words were 'so you wanna get married' followed by ' so you want a ring' and it was so funny bc literally it was this string of seven romantic events leading up to the big question and then the question itself was so. .. well plain. . he just said at the point he was so overwhelmed and just felt like words wouldnt even cut it at that point. . . but he is usually soooo verbose and eloquent that it's just funny. ..

I got the traditional man on one knee 'will you marry me' surprise -- I went out to the store for 10 minutes and when I came back in, he was kneeling behind the door with the ring out. I was shocked. I didn't think he'd gotten a ring yet. Makes me so happy thinking about it still.

Earlier that week we had had a dumb fight and when we were making up he was like 'so do you still think you want to marry me one day' and I said (being all bratty) 'I dont know im like 80% sure'. I was obviously joking and just being a pita on purpose
Anyhow when he proposed he said 'I know the other day you said you were only 80% sure that you wanted to marry me but I think ill take my chances' and then got down on one knee...
Im pretty sure he then said will you marry me, or something like that but the rest was a blur!!

he proposed to me on the top of the empire state buidling and he said' when im with you i feel like im on top of the world, this is pretty close to it, being up here, ' (then he got down on one knee) and said 'will you marry me?'

it was the traditional route... he was pretending to pick something up off the floor, then got down on one knee and popped the question.... I actually said yes before seeing the ring! Then I went bananas LOL

Well to get it you need to know the backstory... DH's father had been very sick for about a year. I would have been an 08 bride but we put off getting engaged or anything in hope his father would get better. His father had floating lung cancer that led to a very rare and horrible disease called limbic encephalitis. Basically the white blood cells attack the cancer and the cancer responds by attacking the brain and causing the white blood cells to attack the brain. He will never be right.
So about a year after I originally thought we would get engaged we came to the realization that he wasn't likely to improve and that life must go on.
So we were out on the beach and I said to DH, 'I know you have had a very difficult year, I wish there was something that I could do to make things better for you.'
He turned me around to face him, got down on one knee and said: 'there is, you can marry me'

No traditional knee proposal...he was sitting down on the couch and talking about it being the 1 year anniversary of us purchasing our home...followed by the box with the ring and him asking me to be his wife? I think...come to think of it I can't remember the exact words - LOL I know I had the biggest smile on my face and of course I said YES
