So who has become more thrifty since marriage?

It's funny. I now find myself buying wood glue so that I can fix my clothes-drying air rack...

And, of course only buying canned goods during the can-can sale...

I have to say, I never cared about this stuff prior to marriage.

Now, whenever I want to spend $, there's a voice in my head saying, 'save for a house..save for having kids...save, save, save'

I find this happening too. I have found that I've become quite the coupon girl and will buy things mostly when they are on sale. I love a good bargain!

Re: So who has become more thrifty since marriage?

Same here. Isn't it strange to have to think about someone else before buying something...not that my DH is a warden or anything, but I haven't been working full time and I just don't feel right spending money that I haven't made myself...

Re: So who has become more thrifty since marriage?

DH & I have been more thrifty since we got married. we bring our lunches to work, cut out unnecessary expenses...rent videos from the library.

We are trying to figure out additional ways to save money...anyone have ideas???

Videos from the library!!! wow you're good!!

I always find that dinners out eat up a lot of money (no pun intended). We definitely save money by eating at home and then having the leftovers at some point--either for lunch or another dinner.

although it is free to rent from the library...the selection isn't so good. we've learned not to be very choosy... However, we still manage to see most new releases.

Re: So who has become more thrifty since marriage?

Thrifty- Yes!!!! I only buy things on sale. I cut coupons! DH and I used to eat out almost 4 times a week, now, we order in Chinese on Fridays and thats it. Before we were married, we didn't think twice about going out and buying things we wanted, but now, forget it, its a huge discussion if we want to buy anything!

Re: So who has become more thrifty since marriage?

Not thrifty at all!!! We still live the same way, however I do think before I buy something if it is fair to DH. But I usually convince myself it is!!

Same here sorta ... I've always been a sale/coupon cutter.

I think we are actually spending more since DH is working now & can't cook & have dinner waiting for me when I get home ...

Re: So who has become more thrifty since marriage?

Oh and more thriftiness, DH and I don't have a washing machine in our apartment. Before we were married, we always just dropped the laundry off and let other people take care of it, well now, I don't even go to the laundromat, I take our laundry to my moms and do it there to save money!!

Re: So who has become more thrifty since marriage?

Okay, I thought I was the only one!!!! Glad I am not alone. Today I got detergent for the dishwasher- buy one, get one , I was way too excited. Also, we went food shopping yesterday- we just got home from our official honeymoon and got a whole shopping cartfull of groceries for under 100.00!!!!!!! We thought we hit the jackpot- I do not have to go food shopping now for quite some time. ( We buy a lot on sale, coupons, and store brands were we can.)

Re: So who has become more thrifty since marriage?

Me...

I think I've been pretty good about spending money. Usually, I buy something for the house. I can't remember the last time I bought something for myself!
