go to your local SS office. You can do this as soon as you have the 'official' copy of your marriage license.....Bring the original & your SS card.

I went onto the SS web site, and they had the form on there to fill out, so I could save time at the SS office, but as posted before, bring the original Marriage certificate and your SS card.

same as above. I went to the SS office in Patchogue and it took about 1.5 hour. Annoying especially when I was in & out of the DMV on the same day. But ironically I received my new SOC in 2 weeks, my license took 3 weeks. I laughed that the US Government is faster than the NY state DMV!!

I went to the SS office in Patchogue and was in & out in about 15 mins. I went just before they closed so they were in a rush to get everyone out of there!!!!
You need your original marriage certificate. You can either fill out the form at the office or print it from online and bring it with you. If you give them your old SS card they'll destroy it for you.
