Some good news to share (no I'm not preggo)

I went with my MIL to her oncologist appointment yesterday.
She is doing great !
She was diagnosed in late 2004 at the age of 79 with stage 3 lung cancer, right after my mother died of cancer. After undergoing chemo for 3 years continuously, her cancer seems to be in check. The cancer won't go away completely because the drug that could possibly do this is just too damaging to her body and really affects the quality of her life.
So the doc yesterday told us that he would like to keep her on the current regimen as a maintenance program, to keep the tumors from growing. She'll get a break in a couple of weeks and then they will scan her to see if there is any new growth and take it from there.

Doc calls her his miracle patient. In 2006, he asked us if we could move up the date of our wedding because he didn't think she was going to make it. Boy was he wrong and are we ever glad for it.

It's been a long road for all of us.

Thanks for listening !

Thank you all for your kind words.

My MIL is one tough cookie.
My husband and her husband can't deal well with her illness. My dad was the same way with my mom. Avoidance. It's a guy thing.
Since I've been thru this before, she feels very comfortable with me and lets me ask the doc questions. She has signed consent that I can discuss her medical needs if need be. The doc is wonderful, answers my questions without brushing me off.

Glad to hear your MIL is doing great! Sometimes Drs under estimate the power of their patient's will to beat it!!
