Does a reading durning the ceremony have to be biblical? If so can you guys tell me which ones you chose. I looked at the list our priest gave us and I didnt really like the ones he suggested.

I do believe that it depends on your church and your preacher. I know my cousin wanted to do a non biblical reading nad she was not allowed.

It depends on the church. If you decide to go with a scripture, here are some to choose from.Genesis 2:18-24
Psalm 100
Song of Solomon 7:6-7
Matthew 19:4-6
John 15:9-12
Romans 12:1-3, 9-13
I Corinthians 13
Ephesians 3:14-19
Ephesians 5:21-33
Philippians 4:8-9
Colossians 3:12-17
1 John 4:7-12

we were given a book that contained our choices. for each reading, we had to select from about 5-7 choices. everything we did - vows, reading, opening prayer, etc - had to come from the book.

We did a poem called 'The Key to Love' for the first reading and a biblical selection for the second reading and the gospel. We did this one for the second reading:
1 John 4:7-12
My dear people, let us love one another since love comes from God and everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.
Anyone who fails to love can never have known God, because God is love.
God’s love for us was revealed when God sent into the world his only Son so that we could have life through him; this is the love I mean: not our love for God, but God’s love for us when he sent his Son to be the sacrifice that takes our sins away.
My dear people, since God has loved us so much, we too should love one another.
No one has ever seen God; but as long as we love one another God will live in us and his love will be complete in us.

We used the 'Hands Prayer' as our couples prayer, its not biblical but its so meaningful to us. It was one of my favorite moments of the ceremony. My cousin sobbed through the whole reading, and had the whole church in tears
Glad I chose her to read since she usually has such good composure
