So....we're....

Pretending we can buy a house today and going to an open house lol.

We have been crunching some numbers and figuring things out and hoping to buy one sooner than we though...not NOW at all but hopefully within the year.

We've never been to an open house before...what should we expect?

How fun! You walk into most open houses and you have to sign in. They'll ask if you're working with a realtor and if you're not then they want to tell you about every other house they have listed. They'll ask a price point and when you want to move by...yadda yadda yadda. Most realtors let you walk around by yourself - especially if the open house is crowded. I always hated the ones that follow you! There's no commitment at all - don't worry about that. Hope you find some good ones!

i know my parents wouldn't be able to afford this idea, but... maybe you can ask for an early christmas/birthday-for-the-next-10-years present from your family members and get a down deposit? good luck, lauren, keep us posted!

Do you know you can do an FHA loan, with only 3.5% down, and get a good (4.5% interest) rate? Depends on purchase price of house what mortgage would be. I have a really good mortage lady we are working with, let me know if you want her info. Paying a mortgage beats paying rent!

hahahhahahaha I wish we could have. You know cause my husband is in law enforcement & keeps our streets safe. lol lol

Lauren. I know its so easy to think you have found the perfect house. But keep looking. Oh & u never know. What may seem perfect inside may not always be. So if its not affordable think of that & then you can get by without being upset. lol lol lol If u have any Q's just ask. U know me & Dh have done it a few times. lol

Excellent point. The house is amazing and exactly what we want but we also want to be able to live and enjoy living. So it is looking as if we are going to save this year and try to move next fall...I'm trying to be happy wth this plan and not cry. lol
