now that you've posted a question -- you should look it up on weather.com -- then if that doesn't answer you -- you can check out wikipedia for the different definitions and history of rain or raining and then after that you can perhaps look up the farmer's almanac to find out if it rained on this day last year...and the previous 5 years...and then perhaps using an Excel spreadsheet determine the amount of rain in years compared to the increase/decline in pirates around the world and see whether there is a correlation between pirates & rain and if it rains today will a pirate come and rob you

or you could just look out your window--but that is just soooo not as cool as what i posted
