Speaking of your new last names...

Speaking of your new last names...

I really haven't been using it, but trying too.

Do you sometimes mess up when you are calling someone and they ask who you are and you say, 'This is first name old last name, no I mean new last name.'

And you get all flustered, because you try and say his last name, but then your last name comes out, and you just sound like you don't know who the *ell you are.

That just happened to me!!!

I don't even know what name to use any more. I use both and then when I call to confirm appointment, I have no clue which name I used! I'm an idiot!

It takes time, but you will get use to your new name, it will come naturally.

That was happening to me at first...now 10 months later I am finally used to it. However when I initial something, for some reason I still write my old initials.

I have had my new name for almost 2 years now...it has taken the majority of the 2 years for me to get used to it. I still slip up from time to time. The first year I was a mess! LOL

I'm still using my maiden name at work so I get confused alot especially when introducing myself and talk to people on the phone.

Ahhh! You ladies always make me feel normal. People think I'm an idiot when I give my last name. I usually give my maiden name and then add my new name, in haste.

The woman at Kinko's thinks I'm really a moron. I handed her a credit card and forgot which name was on it. I looked like a criminal when I said, 'Oh wait, which name is on that one?'

I have received about 75% of my cards (credit, insurance, Blockbuster) in my new name to date.

I changed mine right away so I am totally used to it by now. I don't think I have slipped once.
It definitely sounded totally wierd to say it at first kind of like saying husband did but now its more natural to me.

I hyphenated. Works well just for that reason!

I totally agree. I actually slipped this weekend. I called to make dinner reservations and I started giving the woman over the phone my maiden name instead of my marriage name.

I always forget to use my married name. I think it's a subconscious thing On the occasion I do use it, like when i dropped stuff off at the dry cleaners the other day, I feel like an idiot when they ask my what name it;s under and I can't remember which one!
