Pantene has sponsored a contest where people entered essays describing their 'Wish.' The winner's wish will be granted. My dear friend Kathryn entered this contest with the wish to create a place for youths with disabilities to come together and feel accepted. Whether she wins or not is up to us! It’s based on the people’s choice. Pantene is one of the sponsors of the People’s Choice Awards and has posted Kathryn’s and two other ladies wishes (she is one finalist of 3) on the PCA VOTE website. Please go to this website and scroll over the Pantene banner at the top of the page. It takes a few seconds to come up and it says 'Pantene makes hair wishes from true.' You should scroll your cursor over 'Pick the winning wish.' Kathryn's video clip will come up. Watch her clip and vote for her. You can vote once every day! (Bookmark the site and vote every morning!!) She is such an inspiration to me and to so many people who are blessed to have her in their lives. She's an incredible person with a heart for God and wants to give back. It would mean so much to me if she won. Kathryn and I both know from our own experience with Muscular Dystrophy how important that wish is for young people. Please help send her to the People's Choice Awards and to make her wish happen for children with disabilities!!

UPDATE: MY FRIEND WON! THANK YOU TO THOSE OF YOU WHO VOTED AND HELPED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!
Read below for what she just emailed:
'Just wanted to thank everyone from my heart who voted for the Pantene Wish! I am happy to announce that we won and were chosen by Pantene and Proctor and Gamble to grant my wish of establishing a non-profit foundation called the Speak Foundation for disabled children, teens, and adults. The foundation will be the best way to promote the programs for the disabled children that we want to begin here. If you get a chance, the name of the foundation is based upon Proverbs 31:8-9 and it truly represents the needs of children who are physically disabled. Pray that this foundation will grow and that other business will also get on board down the road!
God has truly opened a door and the wish will be featured on January 8th at the People's Choice Awards which will be aired live on ABC.
Thank you again for those of you who voted to help these children who are dealing with physical disabilities! I had several people ask me why I would want to do something like this for kids. It comes from my own struggle with muscular dystrophy. Many times, I have felt it was very tough to deal with the physical and spiritual challenges having a health condition and disability can bring. I cannot imagine how kids would ever deal with being in a wheelchair without having anyone their own age to help support them. They really don't have a way to find support but we can give it to them!'
I thought Id include here the passage she was referring to:
Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV)
8 'Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
9 Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.'
