Spiders all over the place!

I haaaaaaate spiders. I have gotten better at killing them however - I used to not be able to even get close enough to squish one in a napkin. I killed 2 yesterday (well, 2 spiders and one odd looking bug, maybe a earwig of some sort?), one this morning and 2 just now on my lunch break. I was typing on my laptop, which was on the coffeetable, and noticed something falling from the ceiling about 8 inches to my left. UGH! It was hanging on its own thread, so gross. I had a bit of a panic attack when I saw it (seriously, I was breathing super heavy for a few minutes) and I really thought I had gotten over that response. I waited for it to hit the table and then I squished it.

I have honestly found about 8 this week. What is going ON?? Is it really that they are coming in from the cold weather??? So gross. I hope we have a cold snap and they die outside, before they get all 8 of their little gross legs into my doorway.

Anyone else having issues with the damn creepy crawlers??

We don't have spiders but we live in DH's family's basement and we have crickets all the time. Right now I guess it's been cold enough out because I haven't seen any. They really freak me out and most bugs don't. They are really weird mutant crickets too-they are speckled and they don't chirp. They sneak up on you. But I know what you are saying with the freaking out. I usually scream everytime i see one-it's just a natural response. Its not like I'm afraid of them-it just kind of startles me.

I laughed out loud when you said 'I hope we have a cold snap and they die outside, before they get all 8 of their little gross legs into my doorway.'

I have been home for almost 3 hours now and so far -- knock on wood -- no spiders. Well, except the one in the corner that's in a web above the entertainment center I cannot get to. YUCK. I will have to get out the vacuum soon.

***Barenaked Ladies have a song called 'Spider in my room' that is hysterical -- I've been singing it all day. Even big famous guys hate spiders.

It's on Born on a Pirate Ship, my fave album of theirs. Sung by the bassist, can't remember his name - he and his brother were in the band and went off on their own for an album or two? Red haired guy. Nice voice, hysterical song.

I hate hate hate hate spiders. I only kill them if I have to (like if DH is not around). I scream when I see them and DH just laughs at me.

They totally freak me out though. I am so freaked out that I wake up in the middle of the night feeling like there is one on me! Ughh.

As for our house, we have only had a few baby ones lately. We get nasty looking house centipedes tho and I hate them too. Anything that has a lot of legs is disgusting. Hate ants too.

I just had the exterminator here because of spiders. I kept seeing these little bugs that looked like ticks and I got really nervous cause I thought they might be bedbugs. Turns out theyre little household spiders and they keep popping up. I even had a small infestation in a plastic bag under my bed. Im still not convinced theyre spiders but thats what the exterminator said.

What do you girls think it looks like?

I saw something on tv yesterday, a plug-in bug repellant called Riddex??? Anyone have this? I want one. DH will think I am crazy. They supposedly keep bugs out of your house by just plugging it in, some kind of electromagnetic force I am guessing

DH did get me this thing of brookstone or sharper image a few years ago, a bug vacuum. It's a little thing that ***** the bugs up, keeps them in this little compartment that has a magnifying glass attached to it (who would want to look at them that closely???) -- but you can let them go outside if you want or, do as I did, opened the little hatch door into the toilet But the suction wasn't great and it was hard to suck them up, and sometimes they ran away from the sound I guess, while I was trying to suck it up. It definitely wasn't a dyson bug sucker-upper.

I'm the same way! The same thing happens to me in my sleep and it seems so freaking real! I scare the crap out of my DH when that happens...he's gotten used to it though. It hasn't happened in awhile though.

ohhhh Crickets are waaaaaay worse than spiders! I think they are so nasty!! I feel bad for you. I used to have them in my old office. huge and scary. i think you can get an exterminator for them ??? same with spiders if its ALOT ??? no? i am not sure. i am sure there are worse bugs but still.
