Since someone brought them up i have a survey id like to do.. since this will be the first year DH and i send out our own christmas cards
Typed or hand written??
over the past few years ive noticed alot of people have personalized cards that have the greeting typed as well as whos its from the only hand written thing is who its to.
so tacky or clever??
Also those of you who do the preprinted where do you order them from?

Re: Spin off to Christmas Cards
Okay here is the deal, I am everyone's annoying Grandma when it comes to etiquette. . . but even *I* am going to go with the preprinted message this year! I send out a photo card with Brutus every year and it is SO hard to write on the photo paper it makes it look so sloppy! So this year, no more handwritten ANYTHING. Just the preprinted message and thats it!

Re: Spin off to Christmas Cards
i've been going pre-printed. i find i write the same thing over and over, particularly to those overseas or others i don't see regularly, so i've been doing the christmas letter that i throw in the card. saves so much time!

Re: Spin off to Christmas Cards
This will actually be our second Christmas sending out cards together and we both enjoy doing the cards. We did our cards together. I wrote the cards out and addressed the envelopes (DH has a horrible handwriting) and he put the stamps & return address lables on them. We found that our little system worked well and it really didn't take that long.

Do you send out photo cards?? Because I was the same way but you know how yucky pen comes up on the photo paper - it just made it look so terrible and half the ink would show up and half would look like an engraving LOL

Re: Spin off to Christmas Cards
I'm a fan of writing personal messages, but I have to be honest - this past Christmas we had yet to send out our TY cards and had JUST gotten our proofs so we sent a picture card that said Happy Holidays from the new mr. & mrs Q.... 2007 on the front and had a really cute holiday message I stole from Jenn (petey'sbride) on the back with a picture of our dog with a santa hat .
There was no space to handwrite anything as it was just like a postcard (which we sent in an envelope) and since people had been asking us over and over to see pics from the wedding and we had yet to send our TY's we felt like this was a nice way to hold them over, but still send out a nice holiday greeting to everyone.
I designed them myself on powerpoint and then ordered them through vistaprint.

Re: Spin off to Christmas Cards
Until I have kids, I will be handwriting them.
I HATE the typewritten ones, the ones with pics on it of couples, or their dog (sorry Tilde), with just the Happy Holidays! Love, US
I HATE them, HATE them, HATE them.
I don't want a picture of your damn dog. I don't want a picture of the two of you holding your dog down with his christmas hat on. I don't want a picture of the two of you in a ski lodge.
When you have kids - yes - send me those babies.

Re: Spin off to Christmas Cards
i did picture christmas cards from dh and I after we were engaged. They had an option to write a greeting on the inside, so i had them print the cards with the greeting, but i didnt have them print up our names. So i also hand-wrote a little something and signed our own names

Re: Spin off to Christmas Cards
I've hand written all of them and print labels for the address.
I've received some wedding thank you's that were pre-printed and no personal message and I thought that was tacky.

I think its a nice to at least right 'Have a great Holiday!' so I am voting to get the preprinted but just add a quick note!

Oh--no i just do regular cards.
no offense to anyone else--but unless you have kids to show--i really don't get the point of a photo card. no one needs a pic of my DH and I smiling on a xmas card -- so i just do the regular cards and write them all out. if i have kids one day, then i might put them on a photo card...otherwise i think its silly to just put a pic of us on a card for people.
