Spin off to QOTD..

If there was someone you knew or a family member renewing there vows on their 10 year anniversary and having the whole big wedding thing again. Would you still give them the same amount as their first wedding?

No. Something little.

And if I were renewing my vows and having a party, I would say no gifts. But honestly I dont think I would renew my vows and do a big party, maybe close family.

i agree Jenna.

if i were just renewing our vows then i wouldnt expect a gift. just having people there would be enough

No. i would probably give a more sentimental gift.

My parents renewed their vows for the 25th yr, and people mostly gave physical gifts, some people gave money, gift cards for dinner. Its not a wedding and I don't think people should give gifts like a wedding.

To me this is more of an anniversary party so it would be something small.

I went to a wedding that was a good friend who just had a justice of the peace but wanted to renew her vows with a big wedding. She had a wedding party and everything. I gave her a gift certificate to mohegan sun because she has everything she needs.

i probably would give something small or more special than just money.....

that said some friends of ours got married in mexico and dh was just out of college and i was in my last year and we couldnt go.....so when they did a church renewal for their 5 year anniversary we gave them a regular wedding gift bc we missed out on the original....but our friends did try to give it back, as their renewal invite said no gifts please......

do what you think is right for your situation

definitely not. I feel like when I give gifts for a person's marriage, it's really meant to help jump start their life together as newlyweds. If these people have already been married 10 long years, I probably need the stuff more than they do

I WOULD however still give money at the reception. If they're having a huge shindig, then yes, I feel like it's only appropriate to kind of pay for your plate as well as maybe a little something extra. But I can't see myself giving as much as I would to a NEWLY married couple.

My aunt and uncle did a renewal. They had a fairly large wedding the first time. The second time they had everyone come to a restaurant and have dinner.

DH and I were not able to get married in the church because of issues with the priest, so we are going to try to renew our vows for either our 1st or 2nd anniversary within my religion but we will not be doing anything....maybe dinner with my family.

I dont know how I feel about this one. I definitely wouldnt give the same amount as I would for a wedding gift. I see the renewal of vows as something more private then the huge wedding, so I woud probably give something more sentimental then monetary. If it was in a RH then I would give to cover my plate (or what I could afford).
