For those that SAVE money, do you have credit card balances, or do you pay it off each month.
We have been bad with saving, because we really want to get our credit card bills down. We have a safety net from before we got married, and I don't want to touch that. But how much debt do you have?

No debt for Credit Cards. We do have a 1 student loan and 2 car payments that I consider debt, although very managable.

Re: Spinoff on Saving money
DH has always paid his off every month. I just paid mine off and I will not use it again. The only way I will use a CC now is if it's part of DH's account and he says it's ok that I make the purchase. I never want to owe on a credit card again (unless it's for something unexpected,, like a big car repair)

Re: Spinoff on Saving money
completely debt free, no loans, no cards, no car payments. We moved home to reset. Now we have money in the back for our home, and enough to buy 2 new Hyndais, they aren't BMW's, but I don't want car payments and they have a great warrenty.

Re: Spinoff on Saving money
We have no credit card debt (thanks to our recent tax return) but we have 3 car loans and 1 student loan, plus mortgage payment.
As soon as we sell one of those cars, we'll be able to start putting some money away. We both have a decent amount of money put in our company's profit sharing plan though.

Re: Spinoff on Saving money
We both carry a small balance on our cards- usually under $1000. We have a savings account together, but we also haveseparate checking accounts. DH still has his college loan, my e-ring loan and his car payments and he doesn't think I should have to pay for those things. He says we'll combine everything after he has those things payed off.

we have a small balance on one credit card that we are currently paying off monthly... other than that - my school loan, two car loans and a loan to my dad.... by next year we should be mostly debt free

Re: Spinoff on Saving money
We pay the CC every month. I have started charging everything, because we get the rebate back and I don't use cash for much. I was nervous about it at first, thinking that I would spend more, but I think it actually helps, because when the bill comes, we both see exactly what was spent where. We don't have debt and that is really what allows us to save. Neither of us are really big spenders, though, so we are more disciplined at putting money away.

We each pay off our own CCs in full. No debt except the mortgage, which he pays. I too like getting the miles or points for the CC, hardly ever use cash. And that is because neither of us are shop-aholics.

Re: Spinoff on Saving money
no credit cards, we just paid off my one student loan (my dad is paying the other one), paid off our personal loan, and paid off the rest of my car payment. All we have left is our newest car payment and our soon to be mortgage.

Re: Spinoff on Saving money
We pay our CC bill in full every month (we charge everything for the miles!) and we have my car loan as well as our car insurance. I also consider the LIRR commute for DH as a monthly car payment as well. We also have our stupid rent every month (feels like I am literally throwing money away).
We are trying to really save for a house and a better life. We need to look at our spending habits a little more though.
