For those of you who were on BC, did you stop taking them and then wait a while for them to get out of your system or did you just start trying right away?

I was on BC when I concieved. THe baby is healthy and fine so I am sure you can start right after you stop...

My dr told me the only reason they ask you to stop for a few months before is to regulate your cycle to make it easier to predict ovulation and due dates.
She said the BCP does not stay in your system (which is why you need to take it every day).

I'm not TTC, but my Dr told me you can start trying the first month you go off BC. Basically, right after you get AF you're good to go. However, sometimes it takes a few months for your body to regulate itself again, so you might want to stop a few months before you really want to TTC. HTH!

i came off it and just got to business but like another poster said, depending on your body, it may take a while to regulate so you may not know when you are ovulating. i havent been able to pin point my ovulation yet and ive been off the pill since the first week of march.

I went off BC pills in the end of December and I'm still not 'regular' yet. My last cycle was 42 days!

I went off and started right away--and I ovulated right away too. From reading on LIF, sometimes it takes awhile for some when to ovulate after getting off BC.

Went off BCP & onto Prenatal Vitamins Jan 1 Just started TTC for mid April-May cycle.
My Jan cycle was a perfect 28 days Feb & March were 25 and 22 days April was back to 28 days
We probably would have started TTC earlier but I got a job promotion which delayed things a bit.
But now it's game on!

You don't have to wait for it to get out of your system. As soon as you take the last active pill it's out. The only reason docs often tell you to go off a few months before you actually want to start ttc is because it can take a bit to get regular.
