spinoff to album question

spinoff to album question

How did you organize your pictures when choosing them? We have about 1200 and they're not even close to being in order. I'm overwhelmed just thinking about trying to organize them! How did you all do it?

mine actually came in order, and i got so annoyed bc some ppl who looked through my pics put some out of order. And it annoyed me to just do those few so i cant even imagine.

Was there an online gallery you had with all the pics in order that you can follow? Or were you given a disk with them in order. If any of mine get out of order i have the disk dl'ed in my folder and i can just look at that to know where it goes.

We don't have actual pictures the only thing we have are disks and they are completely out of order, that's just how they came. We had 2 photographers so they took pictures of the same things but some of the pictures are in a roll 1 folder and pictures taken at the same time but by the other photographer might be in the roll 11 folder. That's just an example.

Jess we had the same thing...we had two photographers.

What we did was we created a new folder and just looked through all the pics and copied whatever we liked into the new folder. Then we elminated from that folder until we got our 70 pics.

Good luck...I know it's overwhelming.

Thanks! So the 70 pictures weren't in order when you chose them? Whoever did the album arranged the pictures?

Re: spinoff to album question

mine came organized in a proof album. So when choosing ones for the album we were told to pick out like 75 of our favorites. So we went through and took out all our favorites and then weeded out the similar ones from there. It didnt take us too long, but it wasn't the easiest either.

mine all came in order in three small boxes. after looking through them and choosing some for the album, and now they are all out of order.

I am working on our album right now lol...

I put them in piles like getting ready, BP, ceremony, reception, cake cutting etc. My next task is to start picking our favorites from each pile for each category and to email my photog to ask how this process works after that I notebooked all our NW's album layouts to use as ideas too

No they weren't in order. The photographer made the layout and organized the pictures. I took pictures of my album at included them in my review if you wantto check out how it came.

(Look under the photographer section)

Choose the pictures that tell the story of your day starting with your getting ready pics and ending with your 'closing picture' (last one in album).

Once I did that, I chose all my faves in between from ceremony (beginning/during/ending) then to Old Westbury Gardens, family, grand entrance, speeches, dancing, cake, etc.....

Re: spinoff to album question

I put my photos in chronological order and then grouped them into categories - getting ready, church, post-ceremony, etc. - and then further broke them down into sub-categories - me and dh at church, me and dh post-ceremony photos, me alone, dh alone, dh's family, my family, etc. and chose one photo from each pile. It took time but made it easier to deal with such a large pile of photos.

thanks girls, this is so far what I've done. Made folders of each event and copied the pictures in to the appropriate folder. Not so bad but the worst part is narrowing them down

It'll work out. If it's any consolation, my DH didn't lift a finger in the process. I had 1700 proofs.

I had mine all in order. When the lady went through them she messed up the order. Don't go to crazy about it.

Re: spinoff to album question

We actually reorganized our loose proofs (they came in 2 big boxes). They were organized loosely based on the day, but we organized them based on family members, event, etc. For example, we want to put in a shot of just the parents, and there were parents shots taken during portraits, CH, RH, ceremony, etc. So we organized all of those shots together so we could choose the best one.
