Spinoff to Having Kids

Spinoff to Having Kids

Does the idea of being pregnant scare the crap out of anyone but me, or am I weird and neurotic?

I am more anxious about that than the idea of raising a child, even though I think it should be the other way around.

I'm scared about all things children-related actually.
I find it hard to believe that I am actually mature or old enough to even be thinking about having children....
I think the reality of it takes a long time to sink in......

Tracy, I'm with you.

Even though we're TTC, I sometimes sit and think to myself 'is my body going to able to handle this' ... and will I freak out and worry ever single second I am lucky enough to be carrying a child?

I do so much reading about the subject, I feel like I've educated myself tremendously.. I am in a family with tons of kids on both sides.. yet I wonder HOW I am going to be as a pregnant wife and mother to be!

Of course yes, I also worry about the responsiblity, being a good parent, providing for my child in the best way possible, etc

But the actual PREGNANCY does freak me out now and again... I don't know, maybe its because I'm older and I'm so used to my body the way it is.. it nearly seems like a foreign concept to me!

But in the same breath, I try to overcome all my fears and realize that this is what I TRULY want - so that helps to calm me a bit

I am also scared...I just picture myself not knowing what to do, and constantly freaking out.

You are definitely not alone. I am so scared of being pregnant. I'm really squeamish about most doctor-related stuff -- needles and so on. And I'm afraid of the pain and nausea. And I don't usually like to tell people about my fear because I think they'll think I'm shallow!

BINGO!!

I am terrified of the delivery and having an episiotomy. I also want to be completly knocked out of I end up with a c-section because I don't want to know what's happening.

The whole thing scares the cr@p out of me...from beginning to end. I think my husband should have the baby for me

I'm pretty frightened of pregnancy. My sister was sick the whole time with both her kids, and I'm afraid I'm going to be the same way. I'm really more scared of labor though..I have a very low pain threshold!

I feel like I am going to 'get in trouble' by my parents... like then they will know for sure that we are doing the deed

That's exactly how I felt about announcing my pregnancy to them. After I told them, they were like...we were wondering when you two were going to have a baby. They were soo happy...and I was a nervous wreck!!

I feel the same way.... the less I know about whats going on the better. I am definitely more terrified of being pregnant and delivery than actually having a baby!

9 months ( actually 40 weeks ) of some new body sensation every day scares the CRAP out of me!

Nah.... I was never scared of being preggers... but actually having kids -- YES, terrified.

So far pregnancy hasn't been bad at all... and certainly nothing to be scared of.

But ask me again after I deliver!!!

The thought never used to scare me actually, but now that I'm pregnant, as my due date gets closer, I get more and more terrified. I think a lot of it is due to my hormones though. We have pet hermit crabs and one of them died the other day and I started sobbing and saying 'I'm going to be such a horrible mother!' It was terrible.
